the Yuyu - music by Spider Stacy

Post Tue May 02, 2006 3:19 pm

Hey everyone, I'm an animator with a popular animated series on the internet called 'Brackenwood'. At the beginning of last year I contacted Spider and asked if he'd like to work with me by writing and playing a theme tune for my series - an "intro" tune for each new episode.

He kindly agreed and gathered a couple of mates (James Walbourne and Andy Nolan) to play and record the track. But they went one better.. where I really only expected 20 or 30 seconds of intro music, they created a complete track of over 3 minutes. This changed everything, so rather than animate the episode I had in mind, I decided to create a kind of music video, the pace and flow of the visuals dictated entirely by that of the music.

I'll be eternally grateful for their hard work not only writing, playing and recording the tune especially for my series, but also for working their arses off to get a high-quality version onto a CD, then and braving the dreaded post office to send it to me by mail (gah!).

The fans of my work have gone nuts over the finished product which you are welcome to view at the link below. Turn up your speakers :)
Thanks again Spider! Love your work mate..

"the Yuyu"
NOTE: in order to view the movie, you must have the very latest Flash Player plugin (version 8) installed on your computer. You can get it here.

Enjoy!

Great stuff Adam, both the visuals and music are top notch. nice to hear some new stuff from Spider too. will he be collaborating again with James Walbourne? Hope so. i met James when i promoted a Peter Bruntnell gig a while back. A lovely bloke and a cracking guitarist. Good drummer too by the sounds of it.

Keep up the good work! I'll be checking out more of your stuff when i get the chance.

Thanks Adam, It was really good fun doing the song and i love what you have done with it. Fucking brilliant.

As for James Walbourne, he is indeed a lovely bloke and brilliant musician. I met him about 6 years ago when Boz Boorer asked us down to the Golden Lion in Camden one sunday afternoon. He was absolutely fucking brilliant and so drunk he could barely stand up. We've done loads of music and plan do do loads more but he's always on tour and I'm pretty lazy about getting down to it. But we talk about it all the time.

As some of our English friends are wont to say, "Fucking Brill."

I love the music and the animation.

Just awesome.

I'm off to steal a broadband connection so I can download the animations. They look fantastic judging from the thumbnails. I look forward to seeing your work soon Adam. And to hearing more of yours,of course, Spider.

Hey again everyone.. thanks for the feedback. Spider, there're a lot of glowing comments popping up on NG (newgrounds.com) with many saying how much they love the song, and that my animation is much better for it. I'm getting a dozen emails a day specifically asking for the song in mp3 format.

The movie hit the highest score of all time and you can read the viewer comments here.

Since I released it on newgrounds 4 days ago, it has had almost 100,000 views. "The YuYu" movie simply would not exist without this tune.. Brackenwood has never sounded so good :)
