Funnily enough I made the same topic on the Gary Og message board a few days ago.

I fuckin' love Hulett's work, recently got a load of his albums and I've been listening to them a lot.

Favourite songs:
Militant Red
Ways of a Rover
By Ibrox Park
The Old Divide & Rule
Siege of Union Street
Among Proddy Dogs & Papes
Planes of Maralingua

Been listening to "Roarong Jack - the complete works" quite a lot in the past days. Great stuff, truly recommendable.

I first bought the vinyl copy of "Through the smoke of innocence" in 1990 and particularly liked "Her latest affectation", "Ways of a rover", "The bonny wee well" and "Polythene flowers". I then tried to get some other stuff by RJ, but couldn´t. Well, at least until the "Complete works" came out.

There are lots of fantastic songs on both the "Street celtability" EP and the "The cat among the pidgeons" LP. Lots of those songs still stand the test of time - "Buy us a drink", "Wild rover again", Lads of the B.L.F.", "The swaggies have all waltzed Matilda away" and so on and so on.

Unfortunately I haven´t managed to get hold of a solo album by Mr Hulett. Should try a bit harder, I guess.

Roaring Jack / Allistair Hulett are terrific.. I got into them in the early 90's and have never looked back. The Complete Works cd covers most, if not all of Roaring Jack's material and is quite easy to find. Check out netsoundsmusic.com..
As for a solo musician Mr. Hulett can put the pen to paper like not many other artists of our time! Dance of the Underclass is probably my fave, with a rousing rendition of the Internationale to complete the disc. Lovely stuff indeed! I think his solo stuff can also be found on netsounds.. if not try to find a link to Jump Up Records which is the label it is on.

I'm also a fan, love the music. "He Fades Away" is a beautiful and very sad song that stands out everytime I listen to it.

Thanks all, very nice to happen by chance on these positive remarks. Good site too. Check out the website at http://www.alistairhulett.com and maybe even sign up for irregular self-aggrandizing junk mail via The (rather sporadic)Gallow's Rant.
Cheers,

What makes you sure Philip intervened? I suspect Mr. H just googles himself, respectfully, to see where his audience is.
