To Tom Wade
shane has confessed to most of the things mentioned, too. the drink and drug usage. so what was between shane and god...he told us about.

It’s up to him!
Someone may throw away his dirty sheet. Why to pick it up and jolly run around with it?

We used to manage with words too flippantly.
Most of us would revolt if someone dared to count steaks or candies we do per day (“hey it’s privacy violence, mind your own business!”) but we easily let ourselves count others’ drugs, slag others’ partners, give them business advices, etc.

Yes, most people know Shane as “that toothless drunkard with drug abuse, who will pass in a month” (thank you very much, our dear mass media). Imagine one of them wanting to learn more about the man will peep into forum and what he will find here? “normal man would be dead by now with the amount of drink n drugs shane as taken over the last 10 years. “ Great!
We are supposed to be his fans, yeah? And this is supposed to be a forum of true connoisseur of pogues’ creations (not lovers of naughty rumours), right? I would not like to see this decent place turning into filial of some yellow tabloid.

You say we all know he did it? Ok we know it (or rather something about it). But we also know he does loads of other things too (if you know what i mean), should we discuss them here?

There are loads of great topics regarding Shane and The Pogues: favourite album, favourite, song, favourite line (I am waiting impatiently for favourite word and favourite letter). The great Band is an endless source of topics for really constructive conversation! It’s a kind of humiliation for such great musicians to be an inspiration for “drug” gabbing.

--------------
It's my personal opinion, not a personal attack on you, Tom (or you, Simon). I am just fed up with all that silly stereotypes and senseless accusations.
And yes, i am glad to admit it again - he looks great now! Well done, Shane !

OK, here goes: favourite letter has to be S - it's just the way he sings it. Followed closely by D. Brilliant.

(PS Thanks for some perspective on this issue, MacRua. :) )

Well put, Macrua.

With Shane - with anyone - you have to try to accept the whole deal - the demons and angels that make him who he is are also the demons and angels that make him capable of the wonderful lyrics people have been quoting in another thread.

Anything else is just gossip.

Agreed

I much rather talk about the pogues music, then there personnal lifes (no offence lads i'm sure you all lead entertaining lifestyle) and have done most of the time, but its such an obvious thing to pick up on with shane macgowan, so i just though id post an observation thats all and no disrespect to shane (who i believe to be God anyway) or 2 MacRua.

I mean I am a die-hard fan of both but i wouldn't venture to call Shane "God". As well as to call God "Shane"...

Yes, I know, I can be true pain in the neck

Great words MacRua.I discovered the pogues in 1989 at the age of 13. And tired of people giving Shane the manual howe to live his life. But i agree he look like he is in great shape these days.cross my fingers for a new album

Ehm, I dont really think it's "up to him". Clearly the drugs rule him and not the other way around..

Watching that video made me go kind of sad.. poor guy. Atleast he seem to be better off now when the drugs might be out of the picture.. its not an easy task to get rid of an alcohol addiction though.

I will follow the great man whatever happens though. Hehe.

Wasn't that the show when he fainted(?) on stage? Or was that an other festival in Holland?
