i heard shane was gonna call his new album 'I done it for the money and Ireland nothing else' which says is heart may not be 100% init.

But that may just be marketing, anyways I pray toGod it will be with the pogues and not the popes, and it's half as good as IISFFGWG then you've got a winner.

I believe that the 'I did it for Ireland ...' title was a joke to a journalist!

Between 2001 and 2003 Shane DID record (many tracks for) a new solo album for Eagle records.

But it seems to have been abandoned.

Songs recorded for the 'lost' 3rd Shane MacGowan solo album definitely include

Red Roses For Me (Sean O'Casey) - Shane duetting with Ronnie Drew
If Ever You Go To Dublin Town (Patrick Kavanagh) - Shane and Ronnie
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Drinker (Bob Dowling) Shane on vocals

and a dozen more including presumably Sally Gardens (W B Yeats), as this appeared in the live set during the album sessions. A duet with Bono (not sure if this was actually recorded) and another duet with Finbar Furey. Possibly also studio versions of Granuille (Trad) and Angel Of Death (Hank Williams). And maybe some originals?

The album now seems lost in contractual hell ...

The bad news about Granuaile is that the producers of Riverdance and the writers of Les Miserables have joined together to bring you the musical The Pirate Queen next year. Don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger.
