Well, that's way better than the Dueling Banjos my dad used to torture us with in his ghetto fabulous Cadillac convertable.I was forced to enjoy Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy to fight off those damned banjos. Now he listens to that cheeseburger in paradise...parrot...island guy...Jimmy Buffett.
Cadillac is cool.

I get it.

It was his dream growing up to someday return to the crap town he came from, retired, and driving a Cadillac. Kind of an subtle F-U to someone, I suppose. I'll have to ask him about that.

4:00 AM this morning I'm lying on the couch 'cause I can't sleep and I start to hear Sunny Side of the Street coming from the TV. I couldn't believe my ears. I guess its old news but I had never seen it before. Good on the band. I hope they got a fat cheque from GM!

Cadillac Ad

Post Sat Feb 24, 2007 1:25 am

It's true and a sad day today. I just heard Sunnyside of the Street as part of a Cadillac Escalade commercial here in Canada. The only light from it was they used they used the verse:

So I saw that train
And I got on it
With a heartful of hate
And a lust for vomit
Now I'm walking on the sunnyside of the street

You can't make out Shane's saying which tells me that someone pulled a fast one Cadillac.

Saw it today for the first time. I'm happy for them. I hope more companies use the Pogues' songs in their adverts. 1) I'm sure they could use the added income as could we all. 2) Maybe there are some Pogues fans out there who don't know they are Pogues fans yet and these adds might light their way. 3) People who don't have an ear for it will forget all about the song once the next add comes on. 4) It's a nice break from all the crap jingles on the tele.

Saw the add tonight during the Oscars... not surprised when it first came on because it's a catchy enough tune and I figured they'd skip the lyrics. But then they played the verse. Not what you'd expect in a commercial. Wonder if anyone who would be offended will catch the words?

Yeah, I just saw it, too. Kind of unexpected...

Cadillac commercial

Post Mon Feb 26, 2007 5:29 am

I was watching the Oscars tonight and saw what i think is a new Cadillac commercial with the Pogues music featured in it. The song is "Sunny side of the street." Is this new? Did anyone else see this comercial?
