Nobby, you're far too fast to take offense. The inverted commas as you've called them are quotes. As in the interview was described as "exclusive."

When I heard of the interview and it's exclusivity I assumed that to mean that ShaneMacGowan.com would have an interview with Shane, and they would be the only ones distributing it. Hence Ingrid's describing it as "exclusive." I did not assume, even for a moment, that "exclusive" meant "only able to be mentioned or viewed by Paddy Rolling Stone forum readers," and I suspect that Ingrid didn't either.

If, by chance, I misunderstood what "exclusive" means in this context then I stand behind my original statement. If the page is to be linked to, discussed, and read only by the participants of the PRS forum then the page should be hidden and access protected.

Anyway - I'm done with this conversation. If Ingrid, Juergen or Michael have a problem with this thread then they know how to contact me.

Seems PRS's just want all to know that they're better friends with the man.(With the exception of Pogues bandmembers, of course.)'Tis true isn't it?It's rather charming in a playground sort of way. Bully the outsiders.I personally find the setup of their fan forum kinda distracting. But what they lack in technique, they make up for in personality! No snotty moderators.

So are we in a war with PRS?

If so are we winning.

Bring the war to their front door I say.

Aren't you completely ignoring the attitude of moderator? 'Tis not one sided.
So, Nobby 3 and DzM grow up!

The moderator's "attitude" was to facilitate a link to a source rightly judged to be of interest to fellow Medusans, nothing more, nothing less. So sue him.

No, I don't think so. I just went over and looked at the forum again, and its just a single strand with no apparent organization, and the only admin post I saw was a statement that -- there's only one shane site and that's this one -- kind of thing. And some whining about it supposing to be an interview just for "their" site. It reminds me of 2005, when the owner of the 9:30 Club posted on their forum that he would be making extra special tickets available to his "peeps" there on teh forum, and several people on that forum got all pissed off that we spread the news.... because it was for a Pogues show. Imagine that. Some people just like to think they are so exclusive. And then there is your average sycophant looking to please Shane and be considered his friend, somehow making them "cool" and giving meaning to their pathetic, otherwise miserable, lives. Lots of them out there, y'know.

Was this an exclusive/copyrighted/trademarked interview? Don't think so.
Get over it Davey

I'd truly prefer to think that some of these "people" of high emotions are truly the good friends they prepose to be. Makes for a nicer scenario. And they seem to have a happy tone at PRS, mostly. Not having one myself, I'm able to spot it well.

Hello DzM,

thank you very much for your email introducing this "power struggle" handmade by the readers. Being honest with you, I don't know what it is all about nor do I see a deeper sense in it. Don't they know that we are getting along very well? Who the hell is "them" and "us" when talking about our websites?

Firstly, as you already suggested, (you do know me well), I have no problem at all to find the PRS exclusive interview with Shane on this website as well. You mentioned it was copied from PRS so I am fine. Absolutely no problem!

Secondly, my statement on PRS saying there was only one Shane MacGowan official website which is PRS is correct. The Medusa site is the only official Pogues website. End of story! I cannot see any problems in this, too.

PRS was set up about 11 years ago when Shane was more or less a solo artist. If he never left the Pogues his own website would surely have never happened. He is back in the Pogues so, as you and me are aware of, we have to work at a common end, and that's what we are doing. Have you got a clue why certain people sometimes want us to be "competitors"? Don't they know you and I never had this ambition?

Finally, you are very welcome to publish the next Shane interview on our website, too. As I said before, we are all working at a common end - for the Pogues including ALL band members and for the fans, even the trouble makers.

Hope this will stop this silly discussion now and ever.

Have a happy new year.

Best Regards,

Ingrid

Thanks to Ingrid and DzM for the two great sites.

This discussion has been one of the most bizarre and useless discussions I have read on either site.

I feel the need to explain myself. What I wrote above applies to people who actually fit that description. I in no way imply that DzM or Ingrid, who I don't know, are cut from that cloth. I was mainly directing it at the nob who started this; at least that was my perception.

A bit too quick to jump in -- that's me. Sorry all, and I'll just go crawl under a rock now.

Perhaps you could crawl under a rock in Hafia street in Bagdhad and bring your army with you
