Radiators unreleased tracks

Post Sun May 01, 2005 11:04 pm

With the reissue of Ghostown and TV Tube Heart, along with the Cockles and Mussels compilation and the Alive Alive O CDs, it seems that most, if not all, of their work from 1977 to 1980 is now readily available on CD.

Perhaps Phil could tell is if there are any other unreleased recordings or any tracks which have never been on CD? 8)

Thanks Phil

Some amazing info there. I had no idea Ghostown had any out-takes at all, never mind alternative versions of Faithful Departed and a Visconti produced Enemies.

Hope some of this stuff gets an airing on CD soon.

There is an ommission on the list - the unreleased single of "Walking Home Alone Again". When the single was cancelled ("Million Dollar Hero" was starting to get a second wind), we did some more work on the track, including the Mary Hopkin "hollywood choir" intro, and remixed the whole thing for the album.

Is that the same Mary Hopkin who was discovered by Paul McCartney and had a big hit on Apple with "Those Were The Days"?? Did she sing on any other Radators records?

Yes, that's the one. She did not sing on any other tracks but she did also sing the catchy "do do do" bit on David Bowie's "Sound And Vision" around that time.

Her contribution to "Walking Home Alone Again" is the multi-layered choir (presciently enough, the sort of thing Kirsty would later trademark) behind my crooning on the opening verse.

Mary was a delight - and she taught me how to play McCartney's "Blackbird" on the guitar (Paul had taught her the tuning and shapes). And no, I don't still remember how to play it 27 years later!!
