No idea. But i saw this clip just now, of Shane performing Dirty Old Town with Babyshambles this year, and then he sounded much better, and looked also more Shane-ish.

I actually like that version. I think Katie Melua does a pretty fine job. She looks and sounds pretty nervous - I think that's cute.

BTW: Did the Pogues themselves chose her for that job?

Yes, you have to ask yourself if the BBC Licence Fee really is worth £131 if the best they can provide is Shane MacGowan staggering around bladdered fucking up his lines. Which incidentally, is not the state he was in for either of the TV slots we did last Christmas. I have to say we missed Jem on the Jonathan Ross show, however. You really notice the banjo's not there. He was digging a hole in the ground or something that day.

No one ever sounds as good at a gig or or a record as they do on TV showslook at Liam Gallagher, sounds terrible on TV Performances, sounds a lot better at a live gig and sounds even better on a record.
