Shane on Podge and Rodge, RTE TV , Tues Dec.19 '06

Post Wed Nov 15, 2006 9:18 pm

A customer of my shop here in Dublin told me she was at a taping of this show in the RTE studios last night , Nov. 15th. . A q&a sequence with Shane was recorded. Apparently that means it may be broadcast next week.

It's an awful show, idiot humour being used to demean mostly charmless 'Z list celebrities' . Needless to say it's one of the most popular shows on RTE. My customer had a hazy memory of Shane's sequence being 'car crash tv', when she kept being conflicted by wondering if she should laugh at or feel sorry for him. She had a massive hangover 'cos the show had a free bar , so maybe her memories may be a little clouded.

' The Podge & Rodge show returns to RTÉ Two to brighten up the long winter nights. Ireland's favourite siblings along with their lovely co-host Lucy Kennedy return to Monday and Tuesday nights at 10.50pm. The show promises to be packed full of A to Z list celebrities with everyone from Bob Geldof and Shane McGowan to the Cheeky Girls and Big Tom lined up to appear. '

Incidently my shop today took stock of this new , related item -

Ah shite, I forgot to post this :-|

My mate in Stuart in Dublin has been texting/ringing me to say that Shane is appearing on the show the week before x mas apparently. He said he'll tape it for me! :)

I'd love to see it. I think Podge and Rodge Ruuuuuuule. For some reason its the one with Hector that I love the most. :)

So Podge and Rodge are 'cheap' humour - what is Borat?

Given its feature-film release and publicity, probably Borat would be classed as "expensive" humour.

Though to be honest I don't like either much. But then I have no sense of humour at all...

Cheap Humour in my opinion- at what point did I say it wasn’t?

Or even for that matter mention it?

I did however mention the fact that it was my opinion and the last time i checked everyone was entitled to one

It gets kind of old fast but I'd take Podge & Rodge over pretty much anything else on TV at the moment. And, for the record Hector is a fucking wanker.

Podge and Rodge are the men. Best thing on telly at the moment by a mile. If you need the publicity bad enough to go on, you deserve everything you get imo.

Podge and Rodge were on the radio yesterday and said Shane would be on a new year's special show in .. You guessed it... The new year. They said, if Shane was going to be drunk then so would they.. That fits in with Johnfoyle's story about free drink at the recording.
