Any idea what time ye will take the stage at on the 18th Philip. Will be away that day but depending on times I might still make it.

Another cracking show by the lads. On a freezing night in Dublin the c.90 minute show (9- 10.20PM) consisted mostly of the new album ,along with a few of the old faves. Minus the brass and the female backing vocals of the studio recording the emphasis was on Pete 'n Phil's spanky guitar interplay , along with heartfelt vocals. Jessie throbbing bass , Johnie's rock solid beat , Steve's swirling keyboards and tambourine and shrieked vocals all contributed to a well paced, confidently delivered outing.

The all important wardrobe details : dark trousers for all were topped by Pete - black t-shirt with Stax logo , Phil - brown suede jacket with tassels gave way to dark shirt gave way to white t-shirt with 'Homeland Security' words, Jessie - black t-shirt with Radiators in yellow letters, Johnnie - dark shirt , Steve - t-shirt covered with cartoon images.

Whelan's was reasonably stuffed with , it seemed mostly older males along with Saturday night drinkers half interested in what was on stage. Two absolutely locked fellas hogged the area in front of Phil's part of the stage. They kept photographing him and getting other people to photo them , extended fingers in front of them etc, and occasionally shouting for' Thousands Are Sailing '. Phil blanked them most of the time but they were irritating . A gaggle of gorgeous foreign girls next to me yapped all the way through the show but still managed to throw shapes at the same time so I didn't mind.

For all kinds of silly reasons I arrived just in time for the lads and had to leave as soon as they finished. I wasn't drinking alcohol so the usual Saturday craziness was painfully clear to see. On the way out I had a quick word with Johnnie , asking him to pass on regards to the rest. He agreed that a bit of trombone in the show would have been great .

The "Homeland Security" t shirt featured a row of injuns (Native Americans) on horseback. The subtitle was "fighting Terrorism since 1492". Bought in San Antonio Texas in October.

I wasn't especially "blanking" the lads who kept pestering me for photos. They were nice lads, and friendly, and displayed no particular fondness for My Latest Hat. But when their antics made me forget most of the words of the first verse of "The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs", I made a them or me decision. They lost.

A shout out to Stephen and the two lads who travelled over from Germany for the gig. Hope you got back in one piece. Or three pieces, preferably. This trio all arrived wearing custom-made Dr Strangely Strange t-shirts, displaying a deeply arcane knowledge of the Radiators family tree while befuddling our bass player Jesse Booth and baffling his dad, Tim Booth (of Dr Strangely Strange fame).
