Maybe my experience is just prematurely soured 'cause I first encountered MySpace when some fuckwit direct linked to an image from Medusa for his background. So I encountered MySpace due to a need to figure out how to block image links from there.

And another thing about MySpace ... I admit right up front that I hardly ever go there. When I do, though, I've noticed that nearly every single page on it is:

1) Ugly as sin
2) Usually links to some horrible music
3) Is mostly made up of other people posting "Thanks for the add" messages

So I gotta ask - what's the attraction? Why do people like MySpace so damned much? Am I just missing the worthwhile profiles? Are their publishing tools so simple that monkeys can use them (most of the profiles there seem to indicate that yes, trained and untrained monkeys both use them)? Something else? Easy access to thirteen-year-olds?

Seriously. Somebody please to be telling me.

Also dzm, myspace is highly useful to not only up and coming bands but also long established ones to use to allow fans to hear their music, leave messages, meet each other, find out when gigs are all simply by looking at one page. The Charlatans, for example, now claim their myspace to be their official site. Putting up your bands mp3s/songs to listen to on the internet used to be pretty difficult for non computer types but thanks to myspace it is now quite easy and effective.

I only know one person who truly dislikes myspace and he also knows all the computer coding and how to make websites and such things and he seems to hate it as it is so simple to use which seems to be firstly why so many people use it and secondly why website makers hate it.
