Pogues do JAMC

Post Fri Jul 21, 2006 9:45 pm

Hello everyone. This is my first post although I've been reading this board for about a year now. I downloaded a file the other night simply titled Darklands Jesus and mary Chain Cover 12/12/88. Being a huge Mary Chain fan I was eager to hear any sort of cover song but couldn't believe it when it turned out to be the Pogues! The sound quality isn't very clear but it's the f***ing Pogues doing the f***ing Mary Chain. The song sounds a little unrehearsed with Shane changing some of the lyrics but what a rare find. Anyone else heard this? Mr. Chevron do you remember this? I believe it's from Birmingham.

If you say it's Birmingham, it must be Birmingham. I know it didn't last long in the show, though it was fun to play. I always assumed we did it in Glasgow for some reason. In any event, it was at least put before an audience, which is more than can be said for Jefferson Airplane's [Starship's?] "We Built This City On Rock And Roll" which did not survive past a soundcheck in San Francisco.

Wow, JAMC anfd the Pogues are my two favorite bands. I'd love to hear that. JAMC used to be neck and neck with the Poges. But, I must say the pogues stand the test of time better.

Are you allowed to say what site you found it on? I'd love to hear this.

Rather than posting links, you might care to take this exchange into Private Messaging. I know Darklands is on at least one bootleg of live rarities.

I found it on a file sharing site with the initials BS (wink wink) just by searching under "mary chain cover". Not that I advocate downloading free music, but these sites are helpful for finding rare stuff. I had 120 CD's stolen from my car (including all my Pogues) a while back and found this as a great excuse to go out and buy all the reissues with the bonus tracks. The Jesus and Mary Chain have just been reissued as well this month with a rarities compilation coming soon from Rhino. The Cd's come with the videos on DVD as well.

Hi all, I'm new on this list but I would absolutely love to hear this recording. If anyone can help me find it, please send me a private message or an email. Thanks!

I'd like a PM full of Pogues file sharing information goodness, if at all possible. Can't get my head round the FTP. Cheers.
