I have to agree on the disappointed side when it comes to the dvd,however,I entirely love the cd!! It's worth it Eric,plunk down brother....and my greatest respect to pogue22(I hope I got your post name right,if I back space I'll lose everything)..you have great posts for a guest..would you fecking join already...but I must tell you,I'll take 500 Dave Kings'

I think it's the fact people thought it would be a complete live gig that is dissapointing. I absolutley love the DVD, have watched it twice now and there's laughter and tears there.

Cheers Mick..don't dislike,I think you hit it on the knob,we may have expected a different package.It doesn't suck at all,just maybe we wanted a live show with snippets in between & the rest could've been menu items.

I bought it. I really enjoy the CD, especially the slower acoustic versions of songs at the beginning. The DVD was good. Nice to get to see the band behind the band. And the people behind the band. Their manager for instance, is quite a guy. There were two things I didn't like so much about it. First, the gratuitous use of the word "fuck" was a little dissapointing. I mean a couple of f-bombs hear and there were expected, but I just can't watch it with my kid, which was a dissapointment. And second, not once were the Pogues mentioned. As I said elsewhere about attending Tossers and DKM shows (where they actually played Pogues songs), there should be more credit given to the guys who blazed the trail and influenced the genre so much. I mean come on, a seven piece band playing Irish inspired rock to the wild youth, playing trad instruments...... hhmmmmmm...... where have I seen that before? Don't get me wrong, I don't think there needs to be any worship, and I certainly could see how frequent mention on the Pogues would fuel the "you're trying to be the Pogues" argument, but just to take a minute of their DVD to mention the Pogues seemed to me a very appropriate thing to do, and they didn't.

And one last thing.... people here at the site have pointed to Another Bag of Bricks as being a rip-off of Turkish Song of the Damned. Well they play Bag of Bricks on the cd and I can't help but think that Dave chose that song, and even the way they played it, a a big fuck you to the critics, which I think is funny.

Anyway, if you like FM, the cd/dvd set is worth it.

My absolute favourite band, simply love'em! And of course these guys know very well where their roots are, even though Dave King is the only Irishman, Americans can play Irish music as well.
And as the band say themselves; They're not a traditional Irish band, they're influenced and inspired by it.

Would like to hear them cover The Body Of An American, by the way, would be awesome.

I got a very nice bootleg DVD of theirs, its about 60+ minutes of live shows and TV show appearences.

Ive also got two very nice live CD boots from them.

I believe Ive seen the band 7+ times, they were one of the few bands that would come around Cincinnati Ohio on a regular basis. Now that Im in Southern Cali, I get to see them all the time.

I went to see them a few months ago when I was still a bit new to their music but I fucking loved it. I'd definately go and see em again, especially now I know most of the words to their songs. Just so happens that the set-list they played was pretty much all of my favourites.

This new album, is it the Whiskey On a Sunday one?

If so, Black Friday Rule is the best on the album - sounds really good live.
