On the upcoming Ides of March (March 15th for those who don't read Tacitus) I will be 40. Plus, I find Tacitus a whiny bastard from page one, which is about as far as I got. I'd rather watch Rome on HBO.
Did the old songs taunt or cheer you, and did they still make you cry?

Isn't he, but?! I managed to wade through the Germania and the Agricola to see what he was about, and all I kept hoping for was Varus to wipe the legions out, and for the 'savage Pictii' to sweep down and set Roman Britain ablaze... a strange pissant of a man.
