I didn't mean to offend anbody, and I think people are taking this all the wrong way. I'm a huge fan of the Pogues and of Shane MacGowan, but it's sad to me sometimes that I'll never hear him sing any of the old songs, and that's not just me being selfish. I agree, Shane has lived his life and will continue to as he sees fit and more power to him. My question was just more of a scientific one I guess; whether or not you guys think that with a hypothetical break from drinking and smoking his voice would regain some of its older range and power or whether it is what it is now.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, I'm not insulting Shane I mean come on now.

Since none of us know for sure why his voice is the way it is (drinking, smoking, age, whatever) any speculation about what stopping these activities would do is purely ... well ... speculation.

Shanes sings with his heart specially live it is just amazing. I prefer his voice on his later pogues/popes albums compare to red roses for me sounds more mature and "real". Just like the rest of the guys plays bether now then ever withs some new twists here and there on the old songs.
