I've been trying to find a real Shane calssic that appeared in the English music press a few years ago- without any success so far. It was a response to a journalist who was asking Shane how he wrote his songs, to which Shane replied something along the lines of: "they're floating past in the air and you've got to be ready to reach out and grab a good one when it goes past, otherwise some bastard like Van Morrison will get it"

Seven Towers wrote:Another concert quote with The Popes- it was May of 2002 at the 9:30 Club in DC. It was the first night of a brief US tour, and Shane's first show in the US after Sept. 11th. Shane staggers out to the mic with his usual drink and cig to star the show, and barks out, "HOW DOES IT FEEL TO LIVE IN A COUNTRY FULL OF MASS MURDERERS?" Given the context, I thought it was one of the funniest greetings I had ever heard. As usual, Shane managed to turn the tables on us.

Are you sure you weren't at a Morrissey concert?

Shane: "What do you do for a living?"

Asshole: "I'm a carpenter"

Shane: "Make me a fucking table"

Absolute classic Noel, you are a fortunate man to have Shane as a mate, what i would give to sit and have a drink or two with him. 8)

Noel, That has to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. I practically choked to death on my cup of tea. I was just taking a sip as I read it. :D :D :D

Someone with the appropriate skillset should create a little Javascript thingy, that we could embed in websites etc that generates a random MacGowanism when refreshed. I'd BUY one, let alone download it. Sorta like having an Irish Milarepa or Drunken Master Guru on yer desktop! Arr mateys! *kkkrrrrshshh hccchH!*
