Bands and also solo artists that made the same impact on me as the Pogues even though not so deep cos I was older when I discovered them.

Bright Eyes (YES! Don't whine about "emo" and stuff. Me like Bright Eyes and I'm not emo or a teenager)

Other stuff I like a lot:

The Handsome Family
The Mollys

and then songwriters like Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen...of course. Then Edith Piaf. Azure Ray. Orenda Fink.

I also used to listen to a thousand folk-punk-celtic-rock bands but in the end they started sounding all the same to me, and I still consider The Mollys (Pogues aside of course) the best of them even though none minds me them and they're all listening to Dropkick and stuff I don't like "that" much.

speaking of EMO----i really , really like Blink182 and i think Tom Delonge is great.have seen them numerous times and they are loads of fun. Tom has a new band by the way--ANGELS AND AIRWAVES. it must be the boys sillyness......its a band me and me daughter have enjoyed together.

I don't like Blink at all.

I hate "modern" emo and proper emo (90's emocore) is not my thing even though it's a respectable kind of music.

I just...love Bright Eyes. :oops:

it sounds folk-rock to me. Sometimes a bit electronica, folktronica...but not that emo...emo was the furtherst thing from my mind when I first heard it. I like drunks singing about depression with synths and banjos.

you know i have read so many great reviews about BRIGHT EYES--but yet somehow managed to not yet hear them . i will make it my duty this weekend--i dont want to be missing out
