I remember that show! It was billed (on at least one flyer) as "The Unslaughtered Lambs of the New Wave." Gordon Gano was sick and played while sitting down, I seem to recall.
I thought the AC show was good, too, and agree with your comments-- the lead vocals are lovely to hear, but that is one amazing band! Everything is so brilliant sounding and the only people in the joint having more fun than the Pogues are their fans. Or maybe that is the other way 'round...
I felt AC had a reverent feeling to it. At least where we stood, there were lots of people singing along and waving and swaying but no real mayhem because people didn't want to miss anything, not a note or a gesture or anything.
NYC (maybe because it was 4 dates) had more abandon to it, more slamming around and jumping up and down. Smaller club, clearly demarcated pit, different logistics.
All were everything I (and the folks I went with) could have hoped. Only regret is we are missing tonight...
