The movie was kind fo boring and bland. Seeing Shane, if even for a moment, would have made my viewing experince much more enjoyable...

The Libertine DVD

Post Mon Aug 07, 2006 8:09 am

I was at the video store the other night and noticed that The Libertine is DVD is out. They cut Shane from the movie but I figured they might have his scene as an extra on the DVD... anyone see it?

I would have rented it myself but i was with a group of people who all wanted to watch comedies :(

Haven't seen it yet, but it got a spankingly good review from Peter Thompson, an Australian reviewer recently. I'm really looking forward to seeing it soon. A fascinating-looking insight into the political intrigues of the English royal court of the day.

Yes, Shane is on the DVD, in the "Capturing the Libertine" documentary. There's a short clip of him singing a modified version of "London You're a Lady." The movie and the documentary both are definitely worth a watch. As usual, Depp's performance doesn't disappoint.

Awesome! I will rent it soon. I saw it in the theaters and was disappointed that Shane was cut.

Why was Shane cut? Johnny must of been jealous of his old buddy's acting ability - eh!

5 foot something-or-other inches, and chemically. Probably.

 More like, the clip isn't quite a full minute. They've taken one verse of the song and changed the last few lines to refer to the plot of the movie (specifically, about John Wilmot disguising himself as "Dr. Bendo").
Actually, getting to see Shane in costume, with that long hair, is interesting in itself.

That is interesting enough to buy the DVD, but I understood that Shane did a bit of acting as well. Is there a "deleted scene" with Shane performing his role? If not, it´s still quite disappointing..
