What does the phrase 'The Son Never Shines (On Closed Doors)' actually mean ? from the Flogging Molly acoustic song.

It was a song written for Dave King's mother. He couldn't see her because he lived in California and his mother in Dublin. I believe his mother also had Alzheimer.
