LP

BANISHED MISFORTUNE (1972, Polydor 2460 165)
(reissued 1980 as BANISH MISFORTUNE, Dolphin DOLM 5039)

SINGLES

BROKEN DOWN SQUATTER/RAMBLIN' ROBIN (1979, Barleycorn BAC 001)
THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS/SWEET MEMORIES (1982, Masquerade MASQ 1)
JOHN O'DREAMS/FAIR AND TENDER BEAUTY (1983, Afterhours AFT 11)
JOHN O'DREAMS/DICEY REILLY (1983, Priority P7)

The last listed was billed as by "The Peelers featuring Mandy Murphy"

I was not involved with the album or the first single. I produced the other 3 singles and sing co-lead vocals on "Dicey Reilly"

Charles O'Connor (Horslips) plays fiddle on "The Wind In The Willows", and Tommy Keane plays pipes on the 3 A sides produced by me. I also play various things here and there, though mainly bass on "John O'Dreams".

By the way, Roddy's link is for a different band of the same name, although Miranda Mulholland of that band played with Chevron Harrigan and Woods in Canada in 2003.

I have a foggy recollection that there may have been one further single later in which I was not involved. It may have been "The Dodger Song"

I'm confused. Are there two bands called the Peelers? One back in the day, and one now touring?

Since bought The Pellers cd "Banished Misfortune"
Even without Mr Chevron and perhaps being alittle more "folkie" than may normal cds it was well worth the money.
"The Night Before Larry Was Stretched " stands out . I have a Elvis Costtello version of the same song .

There was an Australian band back in the 80's called The Radiators. Raucous, edgy 80's pub-rock. Great decadent Stones-like vibe on some tracks....
Craig Andrew Batty @ http://www.reverbnation.com/fintan Please join and support and enjoy live music and musicians. Thanks folks!

The Peelers recorded one album Banished Misfortune on Polydor in 1972 and split that same year. Band was: Tom Madden, Joe Palmer and Jim Younger.

Jim Younger (who played mainly concertina on the album)
