Wow. I was on iTunes and saw this post and listened to Big Bag of Bricks............what the fuck. The verse is the same, note-for-note, as Turkish Song of the Damned. "Rip off", nah, that song is a copy.

Actually it's called Bag of Bricks and hey what about influences? The Pogues sometimes sound like the Dubliners. Are their fans complaining?

All hiphop sounds the sam to me as well

Ow yeah their latest cover is: Leaving of Liverpool by the way

Ahhhhhh..... Yesssssss...... I would say they actually do owe a debt (of gratitude) to the Pogues. And I'm sure they do. So, we're done here. Right? Or do you want Dave to like knock out his teeth, or maybe a couple of guys from the DKM to drink themselves into rehab in the name of Shane, or the Duggins brothers to offer themselves as singing butlers to the Pogues, to satisfy your need to see everyone who was influenced by the Pogues physically pay in some way for the honor of playing music? I mean, given that you think some of these guys are actually good, what do you think they should do, or not do?

I still believe in playing your craft. As before, I enjoy both Flogging Molly and The Tossers very own interpretations of Celtic rock. So I say grab a Guinness and give them all a listen, but don't expect the Pogues. Listening to the Pogues first three albums, is evidence enough that these new bands lack a songwriter like Shane MacGowan. Hey, I'm hoping to start an Irish rock band down the road.

Greenland Whalefishers

I finally got to hear Greenland Whalefishers. They are real good. They do sound like the Pogues in their early years. Worth a visit.

I like both bands. Different reasons. But I like both bands. Those who can do, those who can't nitpick over tendentious fucking minutiae.

Flogging Molly's Sentimental Johnny totally rips off The Pogues Fiesta, Big Bag Bricks is The Pogues Turkish Song of the Damned note for note, and Tobacco Island, steals a riff from The Pogues Streams of Whiskey.

Also, when the fuck have The Pogues sounded like The Dubliners, sure they were influenced by them, but The Pogues never sounded like them. I'm a huge Dubliners fan and I can't seem to make the connection, maybe I'm just being naive.

Yup because you can only name 3 songs when they have written over 35 or something

They (being Flogging Molly) have three music videos for download at their website. If your computer can take it (mine couldn't), you could also follow the link to their record label for some online samples.

FM played another fantastic show to a packed house in Hollywood last night. Good to have them back home for a while.

Zox and The Briggs.

Zox was new to me and I really really liked them. The Briggs always put on a good show.
