do you speak german, or did the creators of your language stole it lol?
English does not have a word (that I'm aware of) for "taking joy in the failure and suffering of others," so we have to borrow your word for it.

I have to admire any language that has a word just for that.

lol I have schadenfreude for you (or at you / on you) that you don't have an english equivalent for it haha...We use it so often here

Y'know, I have read that cultures develop words for things that are important for them. Eskimos have several words for snow, most Western cultures have several words for money, etc... but I'm not even going there with the Germans. :o ... oh, I guess I just did. :)

i will pray for pete--really such a young boy.......he is just a bit lost but maybe a sentencing will do him some good. i dont think its where he belongs--he belongs in rehab--but they often walk out dont they? like our mutual pal--we would not want him jailed either. i actually have cried tears for shane by the way just thinking about his life. but alot of you will tell me "its his life--let him live how he wants to live it" and then you will be there cheering him on and offering to buy him booze. we shouldnt enable him--but maybe you dont care. if it was a member of your family --what would you do? pete needs help and so do lots of you

being discovered by the media was the worst thing to happen to Pete Doherty. There are lots of other musicians with a drug problem but no one cares. There've been other wasters in the business and no one cared. I don't see why anyone should care anymore about Doherty than about others. No reason to bash him.

And I think that his music is quite good and it also seems to be quite authentic. At least, his songwriting seems quite honest methinks. He (co)wrote some great songs in the Libertines, Music When the Lights Go Out ie, and he wrote some fine pieces with Babyshambles, ie 32nd of December.
He might be overrated by a lot of people but he's received so much bashing (and often he deserved it) that his music is starting to be underrated. imho

I wasn't trying to say that people are hurting Doherty's feelings. If you can't stand critique you better stay at home. I just do not get why we need to criticize him all the time. I couldn't care less if he's smacked off his face all the time. Have you seen Shane perfoming sober? Wasn't Bob Dylan completely stoned in 1966 when he played great shows with The Band? So why do we hold Doherty's drug problem against him?
And I wouldn't bash anyone for 'shagging' Kate Moss.

Isn't it cold out there?

By the way I like the fact that a 14-yr old likes the pogues. I always force my pupils to listen to it but they are more into hardcore trance shit and r&b :P

Only with less well constructed arguments.

It's a shame to see posts bothering about nonsense like this. Why are we wasting hate on someone who hasn't done much, if anything to harm anyone other than himself? Let's remember that we are much more forgiving about the addictions of other people we are more kindly disposed to.

I have no interest in this fella and only know about him because of what's been posted on here. I guess if you read the tabloid press you start to think and believe that the world as they paint it is the way the world is.

I bet you watch celebrity big brother too!

Well i cant understand why everyone is having abit of a pop at Pete.
I've met the guy afew time where am working,he walks up the street playing his guitar.Really friendly guy,and down to earth, even tho sometimes he wasnt even on it.
I think he plays the role as a crack head, and it has helped Shane get new fans hanging out it him.Been on the Babyshambles site and it shows it.
It even got me to go out to buy his new album since meetin the guy.

So to sum up, your dad's mate wants to kill Pete Doherty because Pete refused a joint, yeah? That's a perfect motive for murder, indeed...

Dont worry, some grow out of it. ;)

It shocks me that, with all these posts in this thread, nobody has mentioned the biggest reason for truly despising Pete Doherty. The bastard's a QPR fan.
