I read that Shane MacGowan has reunited with the Pogues. That's good news. But they aren't playing in Philadelphia. They're playing in ... Atlantic City! This is just wrong. Come on, Fergie. As mayor of Philadelphia, you must have some clout.

Sweet, I am mayor now, thank you. And you're so right. The Pogues should be playing in Philly instead of some cheesed out casino in A.C. Well, let's see what we can do about it then, me and all my clout. Shane MacGowan and I spent an evening drinking together around 10 years ago.

I thought, he's a rock star, a big drinker and a partier even. What are the chances of his remembering me and my humble little pub? Probably very slim, right?

It turns out the man has a mind like a glue trap in an insectarium. "Fergie's Pub. Of course I remember it. You didn't have any apple juice for my gin and apple juice that I like to drink by the bucketload after a gig.

"We were in the Electric Factory that night when I was touring with the Popes, if I remember correctly," said MacGowan in a very scratchy voice over the phone from London recently. "Do you still have that stage upstairs?" he inquired, making my heart skip a beat.

"Why yes," I lied, trying to hide the excitement in my voice.

"Great" said MacGowan, "now go hang your bollix on it," and he hung up.

Come on, Shane. You're a rock star, but there's no need to be rude. How would you like it if I didn't go to your gig, huh?
