What a sad day it is. Shane has played a role in so many important moments in my life. He will be remembered and dearly missed.

My original log in details seem to no longer exist.

I was fortunate enough to see Shane play live with The Nips, The Pogues and The Popes.

Farewell to one of the greatest songwriters I have had the pleasure to hear. I think I saw The Pogues live more times than any other band, in four different countries and over four decades.

The St Patrick’s night gigs in the late eighties were great evenings, but I think the band were better during the numerous reunion tours in the 2000’s. Last time I saw them was at The Olympia in Paris, summer of 2012, it was filmed and released as a live album/DVD.

I met Shane on one occasion. I wish that I had an insightful story to share but it was at about 4am in a dodgy indie club in Islington in the early nineties and neither of us were at our best

RIP you Rebellious Irish Poet.

Raising a parting glass and wishing I wasn't.

May the road rise up to meet you Shane.

Rest in Peace.

He left in peace, well-loved by family. For that at least I am thankful.

I didn’t know him, but he left and I will miss him. My sympathies to all those here who feel the same.

Deepest condolences to his family, and may God rest his soul as he hoped.

Haven't been around for many years but of course had to come here tonight. Absolutely heartbroken. Shane and the Pogues meant so much to me. RIP

Hope this isn't too much off topic, but in addition to my original post a few hours ago I'd like to say that it's very nice to still see many people from years ago around, such as Fr. McGreer, Soulfinger or even TheIrishRover. Hang in there everyone! Reactions all around the world already show what the man meant and means to so many people. RIP.

Well 24 hours since we found out the worse, we knew it was coming some day, but some would say it came later than expected others would say to early.
Like others Shane & Pogues have been a big part of my life and i loved the music immensely. So thanks Shane for the music and the memories.
Now imagine the party on other side last night, Therese, Sinead, Cush, Joe Strummer, The Dubliners, Kirsty, Phillip, Darryl and probably a few more, not much RIP there last night!
Cheers. Welshie.

Such a big shock, even though I knew by the look of him that it was coming, and it was a year last Sunday when I lost my Jake too, so that hasn't helped.

I never knew Shane, but I know many people that know the people who were close to him.

My condolences to Victoria, Siobhan, and the rest of the family.

RIP Shane.

My dad Peter (firehazard) used to post here but he passed away unexpectedly last December. I've always meant to come here and say but lost my nerve. With Shane going yesterday though, my dad has been even more on my mind than usual. Shane was so important to him even though my Dad never met him but I like to think they are finally having that drink together now.

Rest in peace Shane, you touched more lives than you will ever know.

I used to post on here many years ago under the alias "Beisty". I recall your dad, and had many enjoyable discussions with him. Sorry to hear he has passed, and hope he and Shane are enjoying a drink along with Sinead, Daryl, Philip, Kirsty and Joe, and the others who have also now left us.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I feared the worst when I saw that Peter hadn't posted on here since last December. I had private meshed him but no reply. I meet your father when I brought him to a gig in Brixton. I picked him up from his house. He always spoke so fondly of his daughters, his 'Hazardettes" and the many gigs you went to.

Take care of yourself and much love from us all here.

Rest in peace Firehazard.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. His very regular posting had stopped so suddenly. I had hoped for the best that he was OK but knew he'd had some health issues. We chatted regularly on here and had lots of common interests as well as the Pogues. We failed spectacularly to meet at any of the gigs but missed each other by only seconds in Birmingham one year in the mid 2000's. I do hope he's having a pint with Shane.

He was really knowledgeable and a genuinely witty and astute contributor to Medusa. He was also evidently so proud of his "hazardettes".

He seemed like an absolutely lovely fella and I send my belated condolences to you and to all Peter's family.

I am sorry to hear about your dad. I did wonder what had happened. Thoroughly enjoyed his contributions here. Hope he is enjoying a glass of whiskey with Shane now.
