I can't believe one of the sports fans here hasn't beat me to mention the death of the NHL/Montreal Canadiens' hockey icon Guy Lafleur, who captured five Stanley Cup titles and was a hockey hero in Quebec long before his NHL playing days. He was 70.

Andy Fletcher, founder member and keyboard player of Depeche Mode. And by all accounts, all round good guy who kept the band going.
Died suddenly aged just 60. RIP Fletch.

I never had a synth pop goth phase, but on behalf of my friends who did i was offended that The Toronto Star ran this picture of him looking like your neighbour with a leaf blower.

And while we're at it, Alan White, best known as long time drummer for Yes, also passed away, right before a planned UK/Ireland tour, and they ran this picture, which just screams "Fuck it, can't do it. I'm out, take me now"

Dang can't insert the image, click here, i promise it's not spam:

The Hawk - Ronnie Hawkins, dead at 87. Arkansas born, he made a career playing rockabilly in Canada.

At the end of the day, he was overshadowed by the success of members of his backing band The Hawks, members of which went on to greater success as The Full Tilt Boogie Band, Crowbar ("Oooh what a feeeeling"), King Biscuit Boy, Gowan, Ronnie Lane & The Disciples & guitarist Dominic Troriano, and most famously The Band. But it was Hawkin's keen eye for talent that discovered many of these young players, and his bootcamp attitude to rehearsal that helped them develop, so he surely deserves a part of the credit.

Plus, he was 100% the highlight at The Last Waltz:

Bruce Kent, peace campaigner and former priest. Aged 92.

Who once greeted me publicly as "brother" at an anti-nuclear meeting in the 80s, which I thought was possibly the greatest moment of my life. RIP.

Toronto's Big Rude Jake, dead at 57 from bladder cancer. The punkest of the swing revival, and maybe the last man standing other than Jimbo Mathus of Squirrel Nut Zippers. I used to go see Big Rude Jake and his Gentleman Players at The Rex Hotel on Monday (I think) nights way back when. In my memory, he created a whole scene out of thin air, what a legend.

You’re too easy on robo-tron Kushner.

The restaurant owner guy making a point of saying she ordered “a very small” amount of food the night before is fishy.
But not really.

So, a woman who accused her husband of spousal rape during her divorce and then recanted it to help his Presidential campaign died. What a pity.

Her grandkids obviously loved her and were visibly distraught. So, maybe she did a better job with them than her idiotic, drug addled, thieving brood. The pictures with Kimberly what’s-her-name front and center were so trashy. This is the family that whitelash voters admire and think represents American values? LMFAO.

Her fans are as creepy as the psychotic Depp ones. Just gross.
