Really sad. It always seemed that Charlie would go on for ever. That even when the world was dissolving in fire and flood and pestilence and recrimination, he'd be sitting there keeping a perfect beat going.

RIP Mr Watts

Sad to see Charlie go. Any man who shaves, showers and puts a suit and tie on in order to walk down a hotel corridor to punch a man suffering from lead singer syndrome will do for me.

And where is poor Keef going to find another drummer to back him for the next 50 years?

Charlie Watts, what a legend.A great drummer,he was no shed builder,a la John 'Bonzo' Bonham, but he was a real pro right up the very end.

Byron Berline, legendary fiddler.Byron was probably one of the most sought after session musicians ,but he also had a great career as a member of Steve Stills band Manassas,Flying Burrito Brothers, the Dillards and for me, best of all Country Gazette.I had the privilege and pleasure seeing Country Gazette live in the most unlikely setting,Barbarellas night club in Birmingham,January 1975.A memorable gig, a 'hoe down' in a dodgy club owned by the local Brummie Mafia!

Iron Butterfly Drummer Ron Bushy died Aug 29. The man behind the kit for “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, only member to appear on every one of their studio albums, and the last member of the classic lineup still in the band (although apparently mostly retired since 2015 due to his battle with esophageal cancer). He was 79.

Guitarist Erik Brann died in 2003 and bassist Lee Dorman in 2012, so this leaves organist/lead vocalist Doug Ingle as the only surviving member of the classic lineup.

This is just terrible news. Two of the daughters were in tears last night (the two who've both watched the whole of The Wire several times.) RIP Michael K.

Los Angeles plumber George Holliday, who used his then-new camcorder to film the video of police beating Rodney King, has died from COVID-19.

Holliday, 61, died Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital, where he had been for more than a month, according to Robert Wollenweber, a longtime friend and former coworker. Holliday was not vaccinated and was on a ventilator in recent days after contracting pneumonia, Wollenweber said.
