I love that the way this message is structured along with your signature it looks like a flier one might see plastered on a wall advertising a monster truck rally or something (my inside-the-head voice is shouting monster truck guy):

Saturday Saturday Saturday, September 5!
2020 Kentucky DEEERBEEEEEE!
Fuck DONALD TRUUUUMMP!!!

I presume that Frances is a fan of the races and wanted to share her excitement. That's just me guessing though.

It's a race in which people ride horses on a track. The first one to get to the finishing line wins.

You're welcome.

Gonna forgo the obvious bets this year.

Have a family member who used to edit Daily Racing Form.
They give very accurate tips that I place a small bet on then we just pick the names we like.
It’s a system that brings in about $15 profit annually.
Which is usually parlayed at whatever casino the bet was placed at.
Still make more money on one Las Vegas Knights or Pittsburgh Penguins bet. LA Kings are unreliable.

So your question is more along the lines of "what's the point of a horse race" or "what's the point of the Kentucky Derby"?

The purpose of a horse race is to have small malnourished smokers ride very expensive animals that are born looking for the most expensive way to die. In a certain sense the purpose is to see which one finishes first, I guess.

The Kentucky Derby? Same as above, but with a Southern American accent and mint juleps. (Mmmm. Mint julep.)

Travelling east out of the city where we live, the next town, a few miles away, is Newmarket, known as "the home of horseracing" in this country. Middle daughter (about 155 cm in height), has said it's the only place she's ever been to where most of the men are smaller than her.

Used to commute through Del Mar for work.
Have never seen a jockey out and about.

Saw Jack Klugman though.
But that was at the mall. 8)

If you want to see jockeys out and about, Newmarket is the place to go. It's full of them. It's sort of like going to Hobbiton, if the hobbits were unusually underfed. But if you ever do go, you might want to avoid the nightclub on Newmarket high street. Seriously. Bad things tend to happen there.

A few years ago, I had a dream about a Pogues gig that was happening in Newmarket town hall. I seemed to have somehow been given the job of making sure Shane got onstage at the right time. Which made it all somewhat stressy.

I walked into what I thought was a pub/bar in Salisbury once and still don’t know what the fuck was going on in there, LOL. Wrong place, wrong time.

Been to a club in Covent Garden and the older Sweet fans disco dancing gave me such a case of culture shock I left. Who does that? Shit.

Been to a latent goth club in Kensington.

Who needs to dream about Pogues when we’ve got the real thing? Mr. MacGowan once said “there’s enthusiasm for you.” at me from the stage. 8) LOL. I can live with that.

I've been to some seriously scary places in London and in the north-east over the years. Tended to assume that in a little town like Newmarket there'd be nothing like that. But the place there is on another level...

I've had quite a few Pogues gig dreams over the years too. Mainly during years when they were actually touring. But then my complicated history of getting to gigs may be somewhat responsible.
