Come to think of it, the whole season where Brodie was on the run/in hiding was pretty annoying too. So that's 3/7 seasons worth watching.

Not to be pedantic, but ... CIA.

I still watch this show. It's well produced and acted. Unfortunately the story/plot became just totally implausible and stupid after the second season.

Right, CIA, my bad. Was thinking about her, um, pro-bono work with the FBI agent Dante Allen this season, got me confused!

I really liked the story of Quinn's struggle as well, which carried the show through a crap season or two.

But seriously, is it just me or did Mandy Patankin just stop trying a season or two ago? Or is it jus the writing.

It was nice to see a show, somewhere, say "Hey, the things you're seeing people do can leave them pretty messed up and struggling to deal with it." That was something The Lovely Mrs. DzM and I would always make fun of when we were hate-watching 24; there was one season where a character got shot through the palm of the hand. Initially he was pretty much "Ow! I got an owie!", but then he wrapped a rag around it. He spent the rest of the season with the hand wrapped in a rag (yay! Continuity!) but otherwise behaving like there wasn't a fresh flesh/bone destroying wound underneath it. Punch! Shoot gun! Punch again!

But seriously, is it just me or did Mandy Patankin just stop trying a season or two ago? Or is it jus the writing.

I dunno. The show took a pretty bad turn for the stupid when they decided to have Brodey be a heroin junky hiding in the flavellas of Brazil. And also - when a terrorist group managed to blow up half the CIA by parking a van next to their all-hands meeting. This is when I stopped actively watching the show and it became a noise-and-light-in-the-background thing for me.

True, i continue to be amazed at how a show can be simultaneously so well-written (Carrie & Quinn's struggles) and so poorly-written (er, the rest of the story in more than half of the seasons).

Okay, I have joined the 21st century and in addition to a massive cable bill, now am subscribing to Netflix. My wife got me hooked on Happy Valley (BBC). Almost finished the 1st Series. Observation from an American.

Unlike most American shows or movies about police, things aren't solved in a matter of seconds. The British certainly don't mind showing squalor-unlike American shows based in NYC that show waitresses living in apartments that would cost $5000 a month, they show (is it) council houses that are in pretty rough shape. The lead actress Sarah Lancashire is fantastic. Steve Pemberton is great as an accountant who gets in way over his head.

One complaint-let your cops have guns!! Jeez, they get killed and beat up in this show. Let them shoot the bad guys!

Any other Netflix recommendations? Peaky Blinders? My wife is currently watching Ozark, hear that is good.

Peaky Blinders is good, but also an acquired taste. If you like a police procedural then you might like The Fall. I've recently also been enjoying Babylon Berlin.

So those are some things.

If you haven't watched Line of Duty, it's well worth discovering it. And the new series by its director, Jed Mercurio, Bodyguard, just about to reach its final episode on the BBC, is pretty good too.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

I find the non-stop heavy vibe-ness of that show a bit hard to take. Same with "Taboo", also by Steven Knight. I find they're both a lot like Nick Cave albums: smart, artful, but heavy & dark and i can only take so much at once!

My spouse & daughter both had a bit too much of the heavy by the end of season one of both shows.

Better Call Saul..just finished season 4..it's just about the only thing i've watched this year, I love it!

I'm also re-watching all of Game Of Thrones, cos I was expecting the new stuff soon, now i've heard it's been delayed and won't be shown until next year! Fuckin' ridiculous, loads of people will just lose interest..it was bad enough only showing half a season, but now it's too nuts to comprehend..arseheads!

A favourite in our household too. I feel like it's surpassed Breaking Bad in terms of quality of writing, but maybe it's just that it's the show i'm watching now. Anyway, one of the best spin-offs of all time for sure. Watching the finale tomorrow night...
