How do you figure? If you are a typical middle class person living in the US suburbs (who isn't in a abusive relationship) your odds of getting "randomly" murdered is pretty darn low. There are towns around me that have not had a murder in generations. Now the South Side of Chicago, different story.
I don't worry about being murdered anywhere I go in the US. But I do worry about getting killed by a terrorist-I know DzM, I discussed this perspective with you before, depends on your personal experience. Sean Collier was murdered two blocks from my office by Islamic terrorists.
Yeah, and if you're a typical middle class person living in the US suburbs your odds of being maimed or killed in a terrorist attack are ALSO incredibly low. Be cautious, take reasonable steps to protect yourself, but don't let it rule your life.
I'm really sorry that terrorist attacks (Islamist or otherwise) have put this much fear into you. I'm really sorry that the Boston bombing, carried out by two delusional dickheads, happened so close to you and had such a personal impact. I really sincerely am. I know that no amount of numbers or statistics about relative risk will lessen that impact for you, so I'll just leave it there. I hope that some day you're able to get over this trauma.
