Don't go, Barney. The waters are choppy out there.

I think it's true that most people have moved on to the new social medias. It's just us old/stubborn ones left. Apparently 1/7 people on the planet are on facebook. I am one of the other 6, still.

That makes two of us. For I too am a facespace refuser.

And we are three. I do have a FakeBook account, but it FakeBook and never checked.

Yep me too. Although I love occasionally looking at Mrs McGreer's Facebook page to see what my relatives are getting up to. I found out yesterday that my sister has gone to Spain on holiday.

Back on topic.....

My mate and I rode our motorbikes from Tipperary to Alcaniz in Spain to watch the Aragon Motogp. Eight days...
Tipperary to Rosslare
Ferry to Pembroke
Pembroke to Portsmouth
Ferry to Caen (northern France)
Caen to the Millau Viaduct (overnight stop)
Millau to northern Spain via Andorra (overnight)
Pyrenees to Alcaniz (3 days watching the racing, hoping Valentino Rossi will win his 10th world title)
Monday morning head home.
Wednesday evening at home in Tipperary with a mug of tea.
Knackered.

In May took the Cadillac family to Barcelona, Genoa, Portofino, Paris and Amsterdam. Saw this painting at the Louvre and thought of all my friends here on "the raft".

Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

One of the hazardettes visited the Louvre last year and brought me back a postcard of the very painting. It's pinned to the noticeboard next to my desk now. Though it's a bit faded now (as am I).

I spent some time in Paris in '99 and spent several afternoons sitting on that bench looking at the Raft. A poster print of it (you know - poster sized - maybe a meter long) is now framed and hanging above my desk. Bought that poster on that very trip at the Louvre's gift shop.

Come to think of it on that SAME trip I bought the Madness: The Complete Works box set at a Virgin music store somewhere downtown.

Productive trip, that one.

I'm up early today as I'm travelling down to Essex to visit my parents and sister.

We're not seeing them until tomorrow, which is my mum's birthday and are staying in a hotel for the whole of our stay because my brother in law's mum and dad booked themselves in for the whole week.

When my mum rang on Christmas Day though she said that the brother in laws mother was ill and they may not be coming. I hope so because she's very fussy.

I could probably post off my phone if necessary but if I don't, see you all on Tuesday.

I have just re-joined the forum after a break of a few years. I am going to London for a few days during the week and will be there for New Year. I am a bit annoyed about the scurrilous photos of Shane that appeared in the Daily Mail while he was on his crutches in Grafton Street on Christmas Eve.

It's a blizzarding in the big NYC area today that's for sure. About 6 inches of snow over night, calling for about 12-18 more before it's all through.

Heading to Fla the last week of Feb. Joining the crowd of sun seekers to shake off the winter doldrums.
