Knowing St Neots, this doesn't sound like the most exciting holiday ever. Sympathies. Still, it could've been two nights...

Doesn't sound good. :?

Anyway it's got to be better than camping in a force 9 gale or the time we went to Cork and stayed at a camp site with a load of Oasis fans who were going to a gig there that week. I mean hearing Wonderwall at least 100 times a night until 5 in the morning, then half an hours silence and then Wonderwall again is not my idea of a holiday at all.

Bear in mind that it's the statutory duty of residents of anywhere else in Cambridgeshire to be mean about St Neots. You'll probably have a lovely time there.

Ah, I see, a bit like Liverpudlian's referring to anyone from the other side of the river as Wool's.

Probably won't be there long enough to enjoy ourselves but thanks anyway.

Just got back after 2 weeks on Eivissa (proper spelling)...beautiful island, calm seas perfect for swimming...too many ugly hotels though. Had a lovely relaxing holiday, so it's weird that I feel absolutely knackered!!

I've had a pretty satisfactory week in some ways. I booked my birthday holiday to London a month and a half early instead of leaving it until the last minute as usual. Hotel, train tickets, show tickets the lot. I am so pleased with myself. :D

Just back from a few days away for my dad's 85th birthday (18th August).

We stayed in Royston, Herfordshire which is 20 or so minutes drive from where they now live with my sister and her family. a really remote part of Essex called Langley Upper Green. It's so remote that their nearest pub is half an hour's walk away, there is no village school or shop and even the cricket club has packed in. They do still have a village hall but how long for is anyone's guess.

We've just returned from a trip to the Oregon coast, the Astoria/Seaside/Cannon Beach stretch, also known as the filming locations for Goonies! Yes, the Goonies' house still stands and we did go there. The coast is lovely, with the softest sand it has ever been my pleasure to have between my toes, with impossibly long beaches with both urban/comercialized stretches and long wild stretches, but the sand is just as nice on both. And fires on the beach allowed, as Oregon is not burning up like BC.

Also, my daughter and I rode sharks. Well, A shark. My best time was 17 seconds, hers was 33.

Hey we just went through there earlier this summer -- and hit up Seattle, Seaside, and Portland. Seaside does have a great beach and I really liked their antiquated aquarium. We however left the Goonies alone; while you seemed to have been the last straw  :

Losers, why would you have bought the house? It was interesting, though, that the neighbourhood seemed quite split - about half the houses had goonies murals, signs, etc, and about half had "No trespassing" signs.

Probably proportional to whether they made their money off of tourism or not. But buying a house just to tarp it does seem like an odd use of funds. It was funny, going into Astoria I was blathering about Lewis and Clark, while my wife was talking all about the Goonies. We consider ourselves to be good at trivia, but only as a team.

Don't go, Barney. The waters are choppy out there.

I think it's true that most people have moved on to the new social medias. It's just us old/stubborn ones left. Apparently 1/7 people on the planet are on facebook. I am one of the other 6, still.
