It would be amazing to hear that song by the man who wrote it. Looking forward to Portland!

Next month headed to Minneapolis with my cousin and our wives to see Nick Cave and the Minnesota Twins.
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

The City of Angels

Fun fact - I'll be in downtown Los Angeles Monday and Tuesday nights next week (Wed doesn't count since that'll be spent in scenic LAX).

First round is on me. Who will join me? The Googles tell me that Molley Mallone's is 14 minutes/8 miles from the convention center (probably a fantastic $50 cab ride). C'mon - whose up for a mid-week pissup?

Me too. Though a few days later.

Do let us know what you go to see and what you think of it, Heather. Have a great time.
I wasn't intending to go up next until the football season starts again but I just cannot resist West End Live (2 days of music from shows at Trafalgar Square) in a couple of weeks so booked the train tickets in a mad moment this morning.

I actually had a dream last night that we were in London for a week, for my spouse's work. I was at our rented flat in Hackney with the girls trying to figure out what to do and wondering why we didn't plan ahead even a little.

Road trip through Iowa next week! Ending up at Moccasin Creek Music Festival in Effingham, Illinois! http://www.moccasincreekfestival.com
Anyone have any roadside attraction suggestions? Of course I'm going to Riverside, Iowa to see the future birthplace of James T Kirk...

I am off work for the next two weeks and any chance of going on a decent holiday was ruined by my sister who moved my parents away from their home 10 miles away from me down to a little village in the middle of nowhere near Saffron Walden in Essex about a month and a half ago. She said we could come and visit but then said it could only be weekends (as both her and my brother in law are teachers) or during school holidays. She then finds out I'm on two weeks holiday and books me in for next weekend. So I don't book anything. Won't go too much into the rest of it as it should be on the moaner's thread but to cut a long story short, my annual two week holiday this year is one night in St Neots, Cambridgeshire on Friday, drive to village in the middle of nowhere near Saffron Walden on Saturday, afternoon with my sister/parents/the nieces and nephew and then drive 5/6 hours all the way home again. :?

Knowing St Neots, this doesn't sound like the most exciting holiday ever. Sympathies. Still, it could've been two nights...

Mind you, to spice the weekend up you could always pop in to the annual Cambridge Food, Garden & Produce Fair: http://www.oakleighfairs.co.uk/foodandgarden/

Or come and celebrate the 450th anniversary of Queen Lizzie I's visit to Cambridge: http://www.gsmheritage.wordpress.com/

Or come to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the construction of the street where we live (yes, someone has worked it out). Which will probably consist of us giving out free tiffin in our front drive.

Actually the QEI thing does look quite fun. Enjoy Saffron Walden, anyway, Heather.
