Origin of music and lyrics to song

Post Sun Mar 30, 2014 9:56 am

Origin of music and lyrics to song Danny Boy? I heard that the music and lyrics were written by two different people at separate times. I was told the music was written first. Can anyone shed light on this?

That's right. Written by an Englishman called Weatherley in 1910 and subsequently adapted to fit the tune of Londonderry Air. Wikipedia will tell all.
