They broke up just before playing in St. John's, NL, crushing a devoted fan's heart. They reconciled and started playing Boston every year around Paddy's day. I was blessed to see them for every year they played there, traveling 300 miles to do so. Mr. Chevron's professionalism, his substituting-for-Shane vocals on Thousand are Sailing, will be forever remembered. His updating us on the website, even when he let us know that the USA tours were to be no more, was always appreciated. May you be a half an hour in heaven, before the Devil knows you're dead. Good bye and safe travels, Mr. Chevron.

After watching my strong and honest Father suffer and pass from cancer in 2007,i was broken and Bitter and believed that there was no hope or cure from the disease...a last minute decision put me my best friend and my wife in Boston for a show. Philips performance and strength on that night changed my mind,it was such a triumph to see...How cool was it that we all had the chance to share and speak with him on these pages, sorry to chime in so late but i had lost my password and believe it or not it just came to me tonight,I am thankful these pages are still up, i had to say thank you and good bye to Mr Chevron.

I just found out and I am in tears.
I had the honor of seeing and hearing him in Chicago a few years back. His talents, and the happiness he brought to many, will echo through eternity.
Though Heaven may be a little brighter now, Earth is a little darker. All we are left with are memories, and what memories they are !
Both an example and inspiration Mr. Chevron was and is.
Goodspeed.

I have only just now heard of the passing of Philip Chevron, though I knew he was sick. Rest in peace Phil, you will be missed and remembered. Thanks for the awesome music and words. The world will be a poorer place without you. "Thousands Are Sailing" has been part of the soundtrack of my life since the day it came out. Thanks for playing in Byron Bay, Australia in April 2012. I had waited since 1989 to see you. It was mindblowing.

Go raibh mille maith agat, Phil. Go n-eiri an bothar leat.

Steve Hansen, Australia.

The Pogues helped me to love music and Philip was one of them.

I was thinking that it would be cool if as many Medusans as possible posted in the going to the theatre thread on June 17, 2014.
Meaning we go to the theatre...

Nice idea. I'd love to see more people posting on that thread anyway.

I am all up for it but it's mid week and I usually struggle to get to the theatre mid week unless I'm off work (which happens to be the week before as it's my birthday that week).

Anyway, I'll see what I can do. I suppose if I go at the weekend I could wait until Philip's birthday to post about it.

Good idea. We have a few theatre trips booked up before then, so I may save a review.

Sounds good.
I thought I was off but my Summer work session starts the day before, so I'll be attending on the Saturday before too. Probably Broadway.

You are right Heather, we should. I go to a West End theatre a couple of times a month during the football season so unfortunately I am unlikely to be in London in June but I will put a general comment on the 17th. I am going to make a start by posting on the theatre thread in a minute about the last play I saw just over a week ago.

Philip used to irritate the crap out of me by posting on the Going To The Theatre thread half an hour or so after me. I know it's a forum and he was entitled to post what he wanted when he wanted but I used to secretly get a little annoyed because I thought I'd done a really good review of something. Now that he's not here any more I really do miss that. I often wonder what theatre shows he would be going to see and would be telling us about if he was still around.

I'm relatively new to this site in terms of contributions. Having just watched The Pogues in Paris, and the extra clip of "Thousands" I just can't help getting upset, still, at the passing of Philip. I always enjoyed reading his posts on this site, he's such a big loss, he really gave himself to the fans. Sleep tight Philip, God bless.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Philip for a project I was working on regarding the Irish in London. The project is not yet complete, however I may still have the original interview on an old external harddrive somewhere. I guess I was wanting to know if folks be interested in seeing it, unedited and in its entirety? He goes into depth about his career - The Radiators & The Pogues etc. I am by no means a professional interviewer, but it is an interesting watch. Also would someone know of the best way to get it out there?
