Hi Christy.
I saw that you’re doing a gig in support of Philip Chevron and 2 vivid memories came to mind. First memory is that I was at that gig in O’Connell Schools in 1972. I was 12 years old sitting in the back of about 90 rows of overactive schoolboys – you might not have noticed me. Am I wrong in thinking that Phil Chevron and his sister (in a duo called ‘Foxglove’) played support for Planxty?? I remember you warning a noisy bloke in the front row that “if that chap in the white geansai doesn’t stop messing I’ll be down to him.”
The second memory is of that gig in the Stadium in 1982 – Chevron performed the support act in a sort of Berlin-decadent Brecht/Weill mode but had been booed a lot by the front rows (maybe the white geansai character again). I think he cut his gig short and you looked well ticked off when you appeared. I remember you said something like “this song was written by the man you lot just booed off this stage” as Moving Hearts cracked straight into ‘Faithful Departed.’
I wish I could remember yesterday half as well…..
