It just makes you realize that people are out there having big fun. 8)

Rapa Nui, Tahiti, China, Greece & Jamaica are where I wanna be.
Peru would be cool too. Though the hotels of Lima advertising their added security for transport from the airport is kinda scary. Man on Fire!

more of a rest and relax period to recharge before tackling the new year, the whole family is going so I will actually be able to spend some time with the kids for a change

also, wanted to be away for my 50th so the wife would be less inclined to throw a big party

Headed to the fine city of San Francisco for the last week of January - if anyone's about and interested in a meet up for a drink, just holler. DzM, you still in those parts?

Ha! I'm not going anywhere, either. I will be right here waiting for y'all to visit San Antonio. Mr. & Mrs CdnSteve were here a week ago... who's next?

Out to the country where there is no internet and horses and coyotes are the closest neighbors.
Seriously, coyotes walking past the front steps at 7:30 AM and up & down the hilly paths.

Then lovely San Francisco and other parts of Northern California.

There must be a bar somewhere DZM gets beer in.

Wait a minute, you guys got there before me, right.

A must-get is Dramamine. That's a long twisty road. :)

Stop in San Luis Obispo. Visit Paso Robles and drink wine. See Hurst Castle. Check out San Simion. Stop in Carmel and Monterey (while there visit the aquarium). Smoke some wicked bud in Santa Cruz. Visit Alcatraz, 'cuz why the hell not. Drive through Napa Valley (though it's a bit north of where you're going). Try not to spend too much time in the central valley. Hot as hell there. Enjoy Yosemite. That place is majestic. Visit Hechece if you feel so inclined. It is the same size as Yosemite, but it damned at the mouth to create a reservoir for the SF area (there has been an on-again, off-again effort since it was dammed to get the dam removed and restore it to its natural state).

Have a fun road trip! Just remember, it's a big state. That's a lot of driving. Give yourself plenty of time to not be rushed.

Sadly my work schedule here in Philly is making it look like I can't meet and have beers with NJR.

Sorry we couldn't work the schedule tonight. Maybe we'll meet up and beer up when i'm in Cali?

I'm considering renting the cliche convertible for the PCH drive. ...thoughts?.....dramamine(check)
Check list included Hearst castle, drink wine, dip into the Pacific, Alcatraz, maybe a Dodger game.
Might there be a Dr I could see fo my chronic back pain while i'm out there? We're taking 10 days to wander and unwind.

I would definitely stop in Santa Cruz, it's quaint and mellow with a cool vibe.
Big Foot loves it 'round there.

The Poet & Patriot on Cedar St. is some of the best daytime drinking out there.

City Lights Booksellers in North Beach, SF is amazing. 8)

You can't miss Coppola's Café Zoetrope down the street. I believe his offices are at the top?

Japantown is a favorite in the city.

I've been to Alcatraz once and loved it. Good exercise too. We paid the lower fee without audio and moved ahead of the group. Made for a quieter experience. There was nobody else out on the yard and you could run around taking stupid pictures.

Frances it's like you know me....daytime drinkin', cafe's, book stores, and bigfoot. Very cool thank you.

I just watched an eposode of the new Anthony Bourdain show on CNN. He was in Koreatown in LA. Food looked amazing.
