Just a quick question: I know I was at one of the London gigs but no idea which one... somebody had a banner saying "Have ye no Shane?". Any ideas, folks?

Thanks, from a noob.

"Have you/ye no Shane?" appeared at a number of Pogues/Joe shows that year in various far-flung places. In every case, I believe the banner-creator believed himself uniquely witty.

The general feeling in the crowd was that it was out of order, if I remember correctly.
Thanks for the replies. Just trying to piece together some very hazy, yet wonderful memories of my gig-going days back in the UK. It was probably the Brixton gig, then. It was the last time I saw Joe on stage....

There was a Pogues tour of Europe prior to that London show in December '91 and there was one particular gig, in Germany, when a section of the audience voiced their disapproval of Joe and displayed a pro-Shane banner. As i recall,Joe took the matter into his own hands, went into the audience and literally gave the minority 'what for!'Unfortunately, there happened to be a couple of hacks from The Mail on Sunday, there to interview the band, and this incident must have been a welcome bonus to these guys. There was a subsequent article with photos that appeared in the Mail on Sunday a couple of weeks later and i know of two 'so called fans' who must have been well pissed off, they were working for Sport Newspapers[ha!]and they were also in Germany, posing as fans, hoping for a scoop, but they were not at that particular gig ,and i 'm glad to say , they ended up with nowt and hopefully got fired!
