Right from the start, the French found common cause with The Pogues, a unique bond that exists nowhere else in the world. Gallic? Alcoholic? Romantic? Who the heck knows. "Dirty Old Town" is an anthem there. That said, there is no discernible Irish diaspora in Japan and we're quite popular there too. Poguetry seems to be a genuinely universal pulse.

Yes. And then there's the Germans. From all the old gig posters on ebay, it would seem you spent more time in Deutschland than anywhere outside Blighty?

The books of Scanlon, Clerk & Fearnley have unveiled how it happened, but ............ just what does it all mean? I think you've slapped down suggestions you should write a book on Poguetry elsewhere, but, well, you really should. Who better.

News of one more format from M. Polydor-Universal in Paris:

The Pogues in Paris will also come in a triple-album vinyl format so that the nerd in your life will not feel left out.

Great news! I was afraid to even ask. Still haven't lost hope for a vinyl edition release of Sound City Beat...

Fantastic shows in Paris and I can't wait to get my hands on the DVD-Box
The Second show is a Top 3 and my first show was in Stockholm (Peace & Love Tour -89?)

Mr Chevron next step MUST be to collect all material from the TV & radioshows the Pogues have done through the years.
Let us have a magnificent Box with all the TV-shows (Top Of The Pops, German TV, Italian TV, Irish TV, Japan TV and so on) and also a CD-Box with some fantastic Radioshows.
That would be magic
Kind Regards
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground. But you'll stick your head back out and shout "We'll have another round"

That is a great idea. There's a bit of this around YouTube, so it probably can't be too much trouble to round up.

That's all very well, but we don't own this stuff and the BBC alone charges outrageous sums of money per minute to license it. I thought there was lots of good French TV material, but when we actually tracked it down, there was very little we considered worthwhile, except the 40 minutes of footage we're using on the bonus DVD of The Pogues in Paris. Perhaps YouTube is where most of this belongs.

Mr Chevron
Of course it will cost some money to pay BBC and other countries TV-stations.
But my idea is that the band "Sell" this idea to a company like Eagle Rock Entertainment
http://www.eagle-rock.com
Convince them or some other company about this great project.
Maybe if the DVD-Box from the Paris shows is a success it's easier to convince a company?
I've started to hold my thumbs:-)

If it's not too much trouble, why don't you do what myself and other fans have done and round it up yourself. I download all the video i can find, bring it into a video editing package and I add titles and graphics. Some of the quality may not be the best but you can improve the sound and picture in the editing software. Burn to DVD and hey presto...... Your own personal box set.

God i'm a nerd
