I think you can do what the Pogues did - use the setlist from Tuesday

Back at work now after two wild days in Paris, thanks to the Pogues for really going the extra mile on the two nights and making it a special celebration that it should be when they are recording.

Short summary:

Tuesday, Met ManniGee and an english guy at Kitty O'sheas pub and got our tickets sorted out. Went to the venue at 830 and found good spots about 7-8 rows back from the very front. Great singalong of Dirty Old Town just before the Pogues entered the stage. Show was absolutely fantastic. Shane was spot on for almost everything, and sang really great. Ella came out and did Fairytale of NY with him and it was just a gourmet show in all ways. The tuesday audience was wild and crazy and the floor was bouncing up and down as the crowd rocked. Shane was really the king of the stage this night and sang 1000s are sailing with a determination that made it sound like he had sung it every night since it was recorded. Too many highlights to list them all. Went back to Kittys and drank beer until we were kicked out. Met the Swedish contingent and a few Norwegians as well as many other fans.

Wednesday. We didnt venture as far into the crowd as the night before but still had a great view of the stage. Shane was slightly more tipsy and his trademark laugh/giggle was evident through the show. A bit rougher at the edges for the first half of the show, but nothing to worry about. There seemed to be some confusion of the order of the setlist at one point and Shane shouted "lets just rock and roll" and that was what they did. Same setlist as the night before and the audience was slightly tamer, at least where we stood. As the show progressed Shane obviously enjoyed himself even more than he had done the night before and the second half of the show was smashing! Some of the songs like Poor Paddy and FTNY were so good that they could hardly have been improved. After the usual craziness of Fiesta we bought t-shirts and made our way back to Kitty's for some singalongs and more beer. The fans we spoke to were of the opinion that these two shows had been among the better ones they had witnessed, even some of the guys who had seen the Pogues in the 80's agreed on this!

All in all I was very impressed with the Pogues and the two shows. I have been to many concerts up through the years with other great live performers, and these two shows are up there with the very best. Hopefully the atmosphere makes it onto the CD and DVD.

I wish the Pogues well with the sales of the 30th anniversary set and I for one will order a stack of them and use them as Christmas present.

Wish i was downstairs bouth nights as there is no more fun then fighting and hugging with a pogues crowd. Difficult to compare the 2 shows as they bouth where amazing so i just o for the first one as i was in the front row and had more fun. The pogues where spot on bouth nights can't wait for the dvd:) (and the 30 anniversary tour)

well here it is, at around 5:06...hopefully James is fine and hasn't hurt himself, it looks quite dangerous. Seems like his fellow Pogues didn't really notice the incident, too busy delivering a hell of a show. I've just watched many yt-videos of those two fabulous nights - absolutely phenomenal how brilliant the band was. There is a dedication and commitment in Shane's delivery that is really heart-warming, like he's amazed and proud at the same time about how well they pulled it off and that they've been around for 30 years and still mean so much to so many people (many young folks who weren't even born in the early 80's).

There is a dedication and commitment in Shane's delivery that is really heart-warming, like he's amazed and proud at the same time about how well they pulled it off and that they've been around for 30 years and still mean so much to so many people (many young folks who weren't even born in the early 80's).

Yes, my feelings exactly. When it comes down to it, The Pogues mean at least as much to Shane as they do to everyone else.

James is fine, by the way. Terry's ample number of monitor cabinets took the blame.

The audio quality is amazing in that video. The uploader must have run it through some good quality filtering software to get rid of the usual crowd noise and over basey sound that a camera picks up. Terry's strings at the start of Body are so clear. Check out his recording of Dirty Old Town.

Good to hear that James is doing fine. Do to the wild excitement all around us I didnt see it when it happened but it looks really bad in the video. I am very happy to have been at these two excellent shows in Paris and the one in Drammen two years ago, now my only regret is not taking up the offer to see the press gig/press conference in Oslo in 1985! Oh well, its only rock'n'roll!

No I don't think so. We stretched to colour, for a start. And oh yes, in a departure from the usual rock vid format, we shot on widescreen, so we can all pretend we're in (or watching) a spaghetti western.

This is interesting, because the anecdote about James' and Terry's "fight" over the volume of Terry's playing popped into my head, when Terry would say something along the lines of "James, you can't play single notation music without hearing what you're playing" or something like that. Anyway, good to hear that James is fine.

Thanks to all of you for these 2 magical nights. It's rare to hear a parisian crowd sing along during the gigs. All the people i know who were coming to see the band for the first time were enchanted.
