not quite sure if this is the right place to put it or not, and i've sorta looked through the forums for the answer to this question, but i haven't found it just yet

the "five green bottles" that is described in the lyrics, does anyone know what KIND of bottles those are? i know they're liquor bottles, but what sort of liquor?

It's probably fair to assume they are beer bottles, though to be honest I doubt there is a "correct" answer to this one.

I remember reading that it was just playing with words from the Nursery rhyme "10 green bottles sitting on a wall.....and if one green bottle should accidently fall there would be nine" etc etc.Mr Chevron might be able to give a better answer.

I always thought of it as wine. More specifically I always thought of them as bottles of red wine. For no reason at all - it's just what came into my head at the time.

On another level, I must ask what "County Hell" refers to? I kind of assumed it referred to County Down, but that might be my own wishful thinking, as my ancestors hail from that county.
