"Here comes Everybody - the story of the pogues".

Mr Fearnley will also be on the Radcliffe & Maconie Show on BBC 6 Music on Tuesday 17 April (13.00) to talk about "thirty years of highs and lows as detailed in his autobiography Here Comes Everybody."

Terrific interview. Mark seems to be managing to just about contain his urge to say how much of a Pogues fan he is.

Hi - I have just put up a little feature and photos of James' reading on Monday at The Social on the Retro Man Blog. Also, along was rock photographer Paul Slattery who has some early pics of the Pogues featured in James's book, and he has kindly allowed me to use some on the Blog, along with a great portrait of James taken on the night. Bit strange that they didn't have any copies of HCE available on the night though...

Just sitting here, not paying much attention to the new series of Later With Jools Holland and who's in the audience? James Fernley!

Short interview with Jools about the history of the Pogues. He said in the early days they were like IRA cells (no one knew everyone else but they worked together and for better or for worse they are now a family). They showed a short clip from BBC 1985 Sally Mac

Was not going to bother to watch Jools this week but you just changed my mind. ( James is c27.15 mins in just after the Modfather).

Just got hold of the book, and am loving it. Hadn't realised that the Pogues were actually named, at Spider's suggestion, after the quotation from Ulysses

''Pogue mahone! Acushla machree! It's destroyed we are from this day! It's destroyed we are surely!' Spider said. 'It's from Ulysses. It means kiss my arse. Pogue Mahone!'
'Pogue Mahone!' Shane said.''

...and the title comes from Finnegans Wake. Surprising how many books are called Here Comes Everybody though - make sure you don't mistakenly order 'Here Comes Everybody: How Change Happens when People Come Together by Clay Shirky or Here Comes Everybody: Whole Community Catechesis in the Parish by Leisa Ainslinger.

Anthony Burgess's Here Comes Everybody is a great introduction to Joyce though...
