Tesco Express also comes in various sizes. So probably it's true to say that some do, some don't. They have a tendency to put smaller local stores out of business, hence there's been a lot of resistance to them opening in many communities. Whatever, Tesco Express charges more for what they sell than the big Tesco stores do. And some of those big Tescos are truly enormous. Well, truly enormous in UK terms.

Some Tesco Express are based in petrol stations, but apart from that the local "high street" ones don't usually sell petrol. Most of the big Tesco stores do. (Though not our nearest one to here. They couldn't get planning permission for a petrol station, apparently because the site is located next to a psychiatric hospital.)

We are blessed with Tesco's largest store in Europe about two miles from my house. It's approximately 175,000 sq ft. It's super duper, shiny new and seems to have a hundred closed checkouts and four open ones.....it also seems to be exclusively staffed by people who don't give a shit.

Bastard Ipsos Mori telephone cold call stalkers. It seems they think that they have the right to entirely disregard one's registration with the telephone preferencing service.

They say:

It is a legal requirement under The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 for companies or organisations that are making unsolicited calls (cold calling) for sales or marketing purposes to filter those calls against the TPS lists. There are no legal or regulatory requirements to filter unsolicited calls made for research purposes against the TPS. Our call to your telephone number was NOT intended to sell, market or provide any details for any goods or services in any way. Our call would have been made to request your participation in a genuine research study. In conducting these studies we are required to ensure that the individuals who take part are fully representative of the target audience being researched. To exclude individuals with TPS registered telephone numbers could bias the results. It would also deny you the opportunity of participating in this research, the results of which may impact policies or services you use. We have found that a similar number of individuals who have TPS registered numbers take part in our studies compared to those who are not TPS registered.

Which translates as "Fuck you! We're market researchers, we'll do want we want. You should be thanking us for giving you this opportunity"

Wankers!

I have a pizzeria opening next door. Hammering and drilling 7:30 every morning, like clockwork. On the bright side I have a pizzeria opening up next door! :)

I always wondered how it was that where ever they put a garage, they always seem to strike petrol when they drill. How mad is that?

Do they do research first or just chance it that they'll hit the jackpot?
