I am just back from the concert in Bonn. Shane was in good shape and the concert was great.
That they played waltzing mathilda was my highlight of the evening.
Looking forward to see them in Antwerpen on monday.

Hi !

What an amazing night... Still drunk, so I will keep it short.
I saw cameras, I saw screens, I saw a beautiful coverage of the most magnificent band and concert I have ever seen... So please Mr. Chevron tell me that
you taped this concert and we will get a DvD...

...AND THE BAND PLAYED WALTZING MATHILDA....they really did it. It was the first time for me to hear it live. What an amazing night, what an execited crowd and the best live-band on earth performing a great set-list - the best Pogues-Concert I ever saw. Shane was sober, spending the whole time with water, just at the last song they gave him a bottle of wine, which he tasted once or twice. WELL DONE!!! The "Maestro" was the entertainer of the evening, jumping around like tennis-ball on speed, running in front of us from left to right and back again. YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! All the guys were brillant, so thank you very much for this wonderful show. I guess, you had a good time as well.
By the way, greetings to Leo, Jochen, Tanja ( or Dagmar??) and Jeroen - I had lot´s of fun with you!!!!

All the others, enjoy the gig on saturday - you´ll have a great time!!!!!!

Hi !

I just came home from Bonn...wow what a great concert. It was just a perfect evening. I liked the venue (although it was a little dusty at the end) with the tent and they even had videoscreens, the crowd was great and what a great performance of one of the greatest bands. I had the impression that somehow the energy of the crowd jumped over to the band and I have never seen Shane in a better form . I guess he was even more lucid than me, I stood next to a guy who sold beer. I have seen the Pogues a lot of times and they seem to get better and better the longer they are together. So let's all hope, that they will keep touring Europe and that they will stay in this form they were yesterday.
Does anyone know, if the concert yesterday was recorded ? I remember Phil said once the material they have is too dark for a dvd...yesterday would have been perfect for a dvd I think.
Can anyone bring the setlist in the right order ? Thx...

Here is another crap article from the gig in bonn. The writer of this story is a wanker.
Translation by google

Irish Folk in Bonn
Fans celebrate despite Pogues "indisposed" MacGowan
The Pogues are more or less as the uncrowned kings of the Irish folk-punk, the music from the green island far made known beyond its borders. In Bonn, the eight-man troupe came together on a totally deranged Shane MacGowan - and was celebrated after a slow start.

Pogues fans are apparently long-suffering contemporaries, despite their sometimes harsh look and the beer haze that surrounds some Irish as a lover Folks. This became clear on Thursday evening at the Museum Square who accepted as the more than 4,000 visitors a half-hour delay in the appearance of the famous Irish folk-rock troupe almost without murmur.

The reason for the later start was quickly apparent when the eight musicians of the Pogues came on the scene: swaying and wiggling singer Shane MacGowan crept to his microphone stand, to which he clung cramped. Or held on to him about the stand? His greeting of the audience was lost in a hard to understand mumble. As it seemed, was the half hour, until they have to make MacGowan "appears ready" "; disillusioned so you had to find that the Pogues figurehead has not, despite some elderly, contrary to media reports, the curve really got to sobriety.

How fast were there but analogies to Don Quixote, the tragic hero of Miguel de Cervantes was in front of a framed by musicians with mandolin, tin whistle, accordion, banjo and other instruments, not the knight, but the "singer of the very very sad shape. "The one who let the alcohol, from drugs to all, equally unsuccessful fights, like Quixote with the windmills. Fortunately, the texts of the often so inimitably good MacGowan Pogues songs are so passed into flesh and blood that were not even recognize the song skips.

Mood improves mood in the audience of musicians

Evil grin and making strange happenings, such as colleagues showed MacGowan Spider Stacy and Phil Chevron very good game and drew the temper indisposed man with the mike. During the concert, but MacGowan supporters were increasingly better mood, the audience was always more of their infectious sounds infected, so the mood seemed to spill over the stage.

Delighted by the charm of the songs rather than from the main actor, whose voice their former charisma has almost lost entirely sung, the fans, the great and poetic Pogues hits like "Dirty Old Town," "The Sick Bed of Cúchulainn" or "Sally MacLennane "text line by line safely. They were celebrating the songs of the earlier music stars, where it is due, ultimately, that of Irish folk music in general has such a high value even beyond the Green Island.

I have to agree with ManniGee: It seemed that the well felt energy of the crowd seemed to have a positive effect on the band. The crowd was a mix of the usual suspects ( 35 to 55 year old guys with beer bellies in too small tour shirts ) and very young and surprisingly old folks. I had the impression that you could actually feelt love and respect towards the band.

Hi,

there is a great article - look at "General-Anzeiger-Bonn/Pogues": The author knows, what he´s talking about. The other one, as we say in Germany, "KANNST DU IN DIE TONNE KLOPPEN....."
Definetly you are not sick, the gig was indeed fantastic :D :D
