When did I become old?

You mean, when did Safeway become so cool?

Maybe. Though if Safeway had become super cool then they'd have been playing Lost in The Supermarket.

Maybe that was "in the first set" before you arrived.

Damn! You're right

I didn't know that Safeway still existed. Over here all their stores have become Morrisons now, I think.
Last time I was in Budgens (think local, small and rather old-fashioned version of the supermarket as we know it -- but they do fantastic onion bhajis on the hot-food counter), they were playing Bruce Springsteen's "Glory Days". I careered my trolley around the store in time to it.

That is so appropriate, you were performance art in action.

They built a Safeways on the site of Scunthorpe United's old ground (The Old Showground). These days it's a Sainsbury.
I know a couple of 'Iron' fans who have NEVER shopped there...incidentally, it was the only Football League ground I ever played on.

I was doing yardwork with headphones on; had my hand down in some bushes and felt a really painful prick on my finger. never saw a snake and thought it was a thorn at first. hurt like a mofo. after it started swelling and turning purple I decided to go to the ER where they confirmed it was a snake bite. luckily I did not get enough venom to do lasting damage or I might have lost a finger or hand; or so they told me.

My finger is mostly all healed! still slightly swollen and discolored and a little stiff, but I can use it now like nothing happened.

I had a part time job in Safeway on the Wines, Spirits & Cigarettes department in Chorlton, Manchester in 1974. Feeling less old now Boss?

We've had a hedgehog mooching about the garden, eating my strawberries, for a few weeks and had christened him Wop; partly because he's very big and partly because he looked a bit Italian.
I moved my barbecue this afternoon to avoid setting fire to the branches above when I lit it...summer finally having landed in the DoT....and discovered Wop was most likely a girl. There, under the barbie amongst the leaves and genera debris, was a little nest of small hedgehogs and one big one. The big one (in line with racist, anti Italian pre-conceptions) promptly legged it. Not knowing what else to do, I put the barbecue back (after cooking my steaks) and threw a load of strawberries under it for the baby hedgehogs. Then the guilt set in. :(
