DZM may be the janitor but Chevron acts like the host. I certainly have no feud with DZM, being one of the few decent skins on here.
LOW D- I don't take any of this seriously, it just beats working that's all. Unlike you lot, I don't spend all day and night on here. You are all a bunch of basket weaving fanboys anyway, so to qoute the Chief Pogue; " F yez all ".
I find it strange though that all of a sudden every printed word on the Pogues is now being held up as Gospel. Whereas when it suits the rhythm guitar player they are usually dismissed as rubbish ( Ann Scanlon's " Lost decade " ).This, from a guy who has taken it upon himself to re-write the English language.Like the worst kind of trainspotter he insists the word " traditional " has only one meaning. Perhaps HE should go read a book. Every week in the Irish Times, the music supplement has a section in it called " Traditional ". It deals with new releases of old and new material in the Irish tradtional style. Everybody in Ireland with the exception of Chevron knows what this means.

And yes, the NME were a horrible shower of hacks not worthy of the name so why they should be held up as some sort of proof of anything is beyond me.

Carole Clerk, to whom I assume you are referring, worked for Melody Maker, not the NME.

a) You do take this seriously - or at least that's how you type it, which is all we see. Own your comments, don't try backing off when you get called on it - or back off. You want it both ways.
b) I wish i could basket weave! There are some First Nations cedar-weavers here who weave the boss-est hats ever! Picture a cedar fedora, how cool is that?
c) How do you say "it beats working" and "I don't spend all day and night on here" in one breath? I check in here once or twice in my busy day. You seem to spend more time. Again, you're trying to have it both ways.*
c) Again, you're back to fighting about "Traditional" rather than the issue at hand.
d) As mentioned, Carole didn't write for NME, your facts are wrong, so your argument is bosh. Not to mention she just QUOTES ALL MEMBERS OF THE BAND. But it's funny to keep hearing you, essentially, saying "Damn that facts! I KNOW it's right!"

You are all losing sight of the real issue. You may have documented history ("truth") on your side, but dsweeney has truthiness on his. dsweeney knows that it feels right that Spider already knew how to play whistles and that The Plan was ALWAYS that Shane would be The Singer and Spider would be The Whistler.

Come on. Try to deny it. You all know it feels right to think that the band was created and progressed based on a fully formed The Plan that Shane had. It feels right that Shane had a plan for Cait to eventually leave, and for Darryl, Phillip & Terry to join. It feels right. It has truthiness. Truthiness is always better than something fickle and cold like truth. And besides, what is Truth? We could argue that forever. But truthiness - we all know what that is because we know in our gut when something feels right.

Check and mate. End of.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, kid.

OK Lads and Lassies, can we all agree that the poster who names him or herself dsweeney is in fact just a nobody who trawls fan sites of bands, teams or whatever she/he finds and then starts arguments for the entertainment value.

The passionate or aggresive stance he or she takes on each subject is always PLANNED to be factually wrong (NME/Melody Maker above) thus ensuring an argument from us suckers.

Let's either ignore her or reply by saying "Oh yeah, i never knew that" or words to that effect. End of problem.

END OF.

You guys are just being mean. The earnestness of dsweeney makes me totally miss Benno.

Soooo...in recap, Medusans can be sometimes be defined as a bunch of pedantic, sycophantic, basket-weaving, curry-eating cheer leaders?

(I confess I still haven't caught up on every thread, did I miss any descriptors?)

Yessss...it should. Though I'm sure the list could even be longer. ;-)

We could add that bit about liking it both ways.
