I was there, second time I had seen them at the 9:30 Club (last time was 2 years ago.) I thought it was a really good show, better than the one in '09. Shane looked a mess but he seemed pretty with it all things considered. "Sally MacLennane" was the highlight of the night for me.

I agree. The show was fantastic: crowd was great, the band sounded particularly good in my opinion, and Shane kept it together. There really is nothing like seeing one of your true music loves live. You don't want it to end.

An excellent show. I loved hearing Boat Train and The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, but the highlight for me was Body of an American. The crowd really found their voices to sing "I'm a free born man of the USA."

Thanks to Mr. C, I received an aftershow pass and got to speak briefly to Spider, which was a treat (we commiserated about Arsenal getting crushed by Barcelona earlier in the day). Also met Eric V and mrdarcey (and a good luck to mrdarcey, who saw the Pogues in Baltimore and will be back at the 9:30 Club tonight to make it three nights in a row).

Titus Andronicus were outstanding, as well.

That pretty much sums it up. I would only add that the D.C. crowd didn't move around all that much. It was the least active crowd I've seen in seven Pogues shows. Its embarrassing.

I also liked dedicating "Body of an American" to George Pelecanos, who's a DC-based mystery writer. He was also a writer for "The Wire", on which "Body of an American" was used more than once.

Good show all around. Less crowd intensity than tonight and there were some flubbed lyrics, particularly Boat Train, but what the hell. The band was really into it and having good fun with the crowd, particularly those continually yelling for Dirty Old Town. The numerous dedications were a nice touch. Highlight was Thousands. Lowlight was the three people in the crowd who acknowledged the Ronnie Drew dedication. Oh well.

Great to meet EricV, Brian and Spider in passing after the show. Thanks Philip.
I like this bad set and I like getting drunk at luncheon.

Really glad to hear Boat Train. BTW Phil was great for both nights. Spider and Shane were a little laconic for the second show. I was the "big bast**rd" in the gray sweatshirte on the rail. Thanks to Spider for his tray on the first night and thanks to Darryl for the water on the second night. Great shows. second was better because i had a two test on wednesday. Also, sad to see none of the pogues had ashes... go to church ya heathens!!!

I remember you from the 8th. An easy toss from Spider. Good on ya.
On Catholicism, I don't remember, is it ok to wash them off?
