I believe this movie was based on the search Quanah Parker's mother. I recently read the book "Empire of the Summer Moon" which details Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches. An excellent book.

Funny when i watched it as a kid I thought it was decenr western about john wayne rescuing a girl. Wow how wrong was I

I most likely saw it as a kid as my dad took me to all the Westerns, however I would have been really young and don;t remember it. Is the movie worth watching?

Yeah, slightly dated but a quality western. Id put it up there with Once Upon a time in the west, the good the bad and the ugly and Little Big Man

Elmer Gantry (1960)

Magnificent. Can't believe I'd never seen it before.

The Mrs had me rent "Eat Pray Love" of course I expected what some would call a chick flick but this was on another level......not sure of the films run time but it felt like forever. Typical self absorbed drama queen nonsense. Just a dreadful self indulgent bunch of drivel......even the Mrs agreed!

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'll be very interested to see it if there is ever an opportunity in the States to watch it.

BBC America played it a few weeks ago - think it was part of their Rockumentary series.

Saw The American yesterday whilst ironing....awful, awful, awful. Although good for ironing as needed little attention.

44 inches was the movie I watched whilst ironing midweek. Amazing cast - Stephen Dillane is a little hottie, probably has the highest 'c**t' word count of any movie.

Watching US version of Shameless tonight. Pleasantly surprised by last weeks pilot - although I hope they don't follow the original story by story. Don't really want to watch the same storyline played out in a different city, with different actors and accents.

My better half & I went to see "Black Swan" last night. We'd tried Friday, but it was all sold out. Had to go early afternoon on Sat to get a ticket for the 7:40 and get their at 7:15 just to get a decent seat! I guess it's doing well, this wasn't opening weekend or anything.

It was lovely just to watch, a beautiful film. The story was in some ways a typical psychological thriller about somebody in conflict with themselves, but it was very well done with it's own unique twists & what with it set in the world of ballet made it novel to me. I liked most everything about it. Even the losers next to us felt the girl-on-girl scene was "totally worth the $15 right there!"

El Sistema, currenly repeated on Sky, about the wonderful Venezuelan Youth Orchestra. Founded by Jose Antonio Abreu, who is a saint, to give (mostly) kids from slums a focus on music. Very joyous too. No doubt many areas in the UK could benefit from something similar.
