Nah, he's doing solo gigs across Canada and Philadelphia

Is this accurate? My wife and I are heading down to Boston from Montreal for one of the shows. If the band had been up front about Shane not being involved, we probably wouldn't have got tickets. :(

That's your leg being gently pulled. Shane'll sing and stuff.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought as much but I wanted to be sure.

And it would have broken my wife's heart.

Cheers.

It's a question that tends to come up frequently. The regulars here long ago started being sarcastic in their replies to it. Sorry about that.

Sorry Guestie, no offense intended. I highly recommend joining this here Medusa site and keeping up on all the Pogues happenings.

Any chance of getting to Cleveland. Big Pogues following, especially with the Boys from the County Hell Pogues cover band.

I s'pose there's no way to more prominently dislpay the Live Shows FAQ thread?

I agree Phro, getting mildly nervous here as well.....no sign of tix yet even though it's 2 months away, I like my tickets in hand (or at will call!)

Those pre-sale tix always take a while. I missed the pre- sale, got mine for the Boston gig thru ticketmaster, and they arrived a few weeks ago....

You should have jumped on the Detroit show seeing as it is less than 3 hours between the two cities. It's sold out, but I see tickets out on Stubhub if you are (and why wouldn't you be) interested in seeing them

anyone in the dc/baltimore area. i'm thinking of flying into dc or baltimore on the 11th,12th, or 13th, taking some tours in dc and then heading to ny for the shows. i'm wondering if it would be less expensive to stay in baltimore (hotels, food, etc.) and take a rail to dc when i want to tour, or if it'll be comparable enough to just stay in dc for a couple of days then take a bus to the rest of my journey. i've been looking online but can't seem to get a good idea.... any suggestions for hotels/hostels/b&bs would be greatly appreciated as well. there may even be a pint or two in it for yas!

As to Terminal 5, an aptly named venue: the sound there is dreadful if you're up top, but fine on the floor. Forget about sitting down, as if you would for a Pogues show: the only places to sit are horribly stained uncomfortable sofas, except in the "VIP" section, where it's tipsy barstools from which one can't see unless you stand on them. No subways near, but it's an easy if long walk from the Times Sq. area -- just walk west until you're about to fall in the Hudson River, and you're there. Few restaurants around; grab a bite wherever you are before you head over.
This said, the Bob Dylan shows there this past fall were surprisingly good, soundwise, and the huge cavern of the space (about 3 stories up, it seems) didn't damage that. The front rail is rotten: just the wrong height for getting crushed against, but it's low enough to go over if you have to. The security guys are huge and no-nonsense and quite good (for a girl who sometimes needs to be dragged to safety ;)
Can't WAIT for all the shows. Thanks so much for coming back to NY, lads.

Tickets on Stubhub for Detroit are $250 for the cheapest!
I feel like I got some kind of bargain. :D
Are any other shows sold out? Way to go Detroit people, and Canadians!

You can justify either option - there's a wide variety of places in DC and B'more to stay - the commuter rail (MARC) between the two is easy and not too expensive. I used to live in DC and now am a NJ resident, but work requires me to go to the DC office 2x per month, so I stay downtown often (in fact, I'm in the DC office as I'm writing this). Usually I stay at the Comfort Inn - Convention Center http://tinyurl.com/62sf8t8 which isn't too fancy, but isn't bad either - it's a converted apartment building. I get a discount booking through our corporate travel, but a quick peek for that weekend in March says the lowest rate is $153. Last night I stayed in the oldest hotel in downtown DC, the Harrington http://hotel-harrington.com/. As one would imagine, it's a funky old place comparable to hotels in Europe (odd layouts, etc.) and a little shabby on the edges, but it's clean and fantastically located for touring DC - a block from the Metro Center subway, walking distance from the Smithsonian Museums/Mall area, etc. Their regular room rates are $125 for a small double (take the word small seriously) and $145 for a small queen (which I stayed in and was quite comfortable).

Can't comment on accomodations in Charm City - I never stayed in a hotel there, just up and back from DC.

Hope that helps.
