Good, The Bad and The Ugly is quality. With leaving my vinyl in my mothers house it was an absolute gem to hear on the box set. I always felt that maybe BAD nicked a few ideas of this for Meidine Show, EMC2 etc etc with the insert of dialogue from the movies etc etc

I've read of a " Dirty Harry " re-mix of The Clash's " Magnificent seven " where they had clips of dialogue from the film inserted into it. Fuckin' love to hear that." D'ye feel lucky ? Well do ya, PUNK ? " That was as far back as 1980 don't forget. Long before sampling and whatever else these dance groups or rappers do, Gorillaz and the like. How ahead of their time were the Clash ?

That sounds quality. Think I was more thinking along the lines of the fact that it was dialogue from the Good, The Bad and the Ugly however its probably a coincidence and also im not actually sure which piece of music came first anyway haha.

dsweeney wrote:Yeah, I love the extended " ..Grace..", especially where the vocals drop out and you can sing along with it, karaoke style. It's the closest I'll get to singing with the Pogues anyway. I also love the long mix of " Young Ned.." with the opening dance bit and then the band come in with the main melody of the song. Great to sing along to as well with Terry's original vocal dropping in and out. Probably one of the few people who love " The good, the bad and the ugly " as well. It wouldn't work on an album I don't think but on it's own it's great. Surprised it didn't make the box-set.

WTF ??? My apologies, of COURSE it made the fuckin' box-set. That's where I have it, for God's sake ! My mistake. I think I read somewhere that the " Straight to hell " soundtrack ( which I had originally on cassette ) was re-issued but " The good, the bad and the ugly " was dropped from the new edition. I could be sooo wrong on that though but I think that's what I was thinking of when I said it didn't make the box-set. It's been a long day,ok?

Oh right, gotcha. I thought you meant having sound clips from movies in general. Didn't know " The good, the bad and the ugly " was on the BAD tracks.
I think the " Straight to hell " soundtrack where the Pogues version of it came from was in 1987 ? So I would say BAD were a good 3 or 4 years earlier than that. Jonesy had left the Clash since '82 I think so BAD were around '84 I'd guess.
